I hear Mark in the shower humming a song to himself. I notice the song instantly. It was Immortals by Fall Out Boy. I shake my head. He's been obsessed with that band for weeks. I'm sitting on our brown couch and Chica is laying down at my feet. I bend down and give her a scratch behind her ears as her tail starts to wag. I'm starting to smile as I get up off of the sofa and knock on the bathroom door. All of a sudden, the music abruptly stops and Mark's voice echoed from behind the door.
"Jack? Um, is...uh..is everything ok?" I try not to giggle but I can't help it.
"What are you laughing at!" Mark's voice roars. I stop laughing after a good five minutes.
"Sorry Mark. I was just wondering what you were singing. It was good." I smirk as the water comes back on. I pretend to walk away but then I tip toe back to the door and place my ears against the door. Mark's deep voice plays through the next song like no ones there.

I wait for the water to shut off. The music slowly dies away before no sound at all except for the running water. Soon, that ended too. Whistling started as I heard Mark's footsteps getting out. I smiled. I had planned to spend my day with him. My Ma has called a dozen times in the last week asking if I'm ok. She's just not used to me not being around. And to be honest, I miss being around too. I see the wooden knob start to turn and I start to feel excited. Calm down or your gonna embarrass yourself! I tell myself before it was too late. The door opened to a dry and clothed Mark. I look at him as he looks at me with a smile.
"Did you listen to me through the entire song?" he asked. I nodded guilty. Mark brought me into a kiss before breaking away.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"What?" he says sarcastically "it's not like I'm leaving to get a surprise that may or may not be for you so hold your horses." he finishes as he grabs his coat before grabbing his keys to go. I roll my eyes and sit down and turn on Netflix.
