It was a really nice day. The dawn was a rare purplish-blue. The attractive morning compelled you to the roofs of the guild hall. You had been waiting for a certain someone to leave for the job.
"Well, what are you doing up there?" He's here.
"Just enjoying the view. Wait I'll be right there."
You quickly ran down the stairs and met up with Rufus. You followed him silently to the train station. In any other circumstances you would have been worried about the uncomfortable silence that descended upon the two of you but now, walking to the train station you almost wished you could go for the job any other way. Anything but trains.
"[F/N], are you okay? You're looking a little pale."
"Gee, thanks for your concern."You said sarcastically.
Rufus just stared at you before shrugging and walking past you to board the death-vehicle in front of you aka the train.
You reluctantly walked in and settled in a corner and train started moving.
"Urgh...." You tried your best to maintain a poker face but failed miserably. You groaned clutching your stomach.
"[F/N], do you have motion sickness?" Isn't that obvious genius? You wanted to give him another smart-ass retort but ended up spouting out "Uh huh." Pathetic [F/N].
The rest of the journey ended up in you barely remaining conscious and Rufus staring at you curiously.
Finally after a million years the train stopped. You didn't even waste a second before getting out of that moving death trap. You were ecstatic and disoriented and everybody knew that's a bad combination of emotions.
"Gah ha ha!!! Now who's sick huh? You stupid killing machine!!! I'll never board another train in my entire lifetime .You monstrous death trap. Humongous Iron...." pretty sure you'd have screamed scarier things at the poor machine but you were pulled out from the station by Rufus who looked ashamed of your antics.
"I have no memory of being this apologetic in my whole life. You seriously need to control your temper at the....train."
You had calmed down by now and felt kind of, a little bit sorry for Rufus. But hey, you had no idea why you get motion sickness. It's like a stupid habit that doesn't go away.
"Sorry Rufus." You mumbled out before going out to find the client. Rufus followed you quietly.
It wasn't long before you got the mission. Some creatures were wrecking parts of the town during the night. Your job was to find and eliminate them. You thought it was a pretty simple job.
"So, get us someplace to crash before night. That's when they appear correct?"
"Yes. My assistant will lead you to your campsite." Replied the client, an old man who was the chief of the village.
---
Marvellous.
Your so called "camp-site" was a simple one room bunk at the edge of the village. Now you have to spend a full afternoon with a cheery ex-buddy. YAY!!!
"Rufus, I'm going out for a walk. I'll be back before dusk."You didn't wait for his reply.
The village was a small one indeed. To the northern side was a thick forest. The train station was towards south. There was a river in the other side and that's where you were headed.
You could smell the cleanliness of the water. Its purity calmed your mind. It's been a while since you last used water magic so you wanted to check your skills with the water.
You raised your arms and the river followed your actions. Water make heaven. It was one of the most beautiful spell you had. The water takes shape of your memories and plays them as if real. The scene before you was of you and Rufus practising your maker magic in the mountains. An old memory but it brought tears to your eyes.
Suddenly you couldn't hold it in anymore. You cried. You screamed and wept. You cried in the arms of the water that showed your memories of the past. You cried harder than you have ever done before.
After sometime you had calmed down, you felt lighter and better than before. You broke the spell and saw that it was dusk already.
As you turned you heard rustling in the nearby bushes and a flowing pink feathery kind of thing before it disappeared.
You swear it looked like a certain somebody's precious hat but you had other things in your mind and forgot about it.
