Chapter 17 - Conclusion

"Oh I'm so sorry Rufus!!!"

It's been two months since you started dating Rufus. Yes, it had been the best two months of your life. You always thought dating someone would be pretty awkward. But all those insecurities vanished almost instantly.

In the present you were supposed to go out with him for dinner. But Yukino had insisted on dressing you up.

"Look like a proper lady for once [F/N]."

So she said. But you were glad you let her talk into wearing a dress because Rufus looked stunning in his suit. Since it was a proper dinner you were wearing a dark gray cocktail dress that barely made it past your knees.

Yukino outdid herself my pinning your hair up in a fashionable braid. You even felt confident in your silver stilettos.

Rufus turned to look at his girlfriend and was stunned. He never imagined you to dress up for the day.

Thank you Yukino. You made a mental note to treat her out later that week. Rufus's expression was worth all that trouble.

"Memory freak, you look dashing."

You complimented him hoping he didn't notice you drooling.

"Why? Thank you milady! You look beautiful yourself."

He bowed before taking your hand. He placed a small kiss before walking into the restaurant.

The dinner was delicious. You didn't have to act all lady like with Rufus. He watched in curiosity as you ate. It never seized to amaze him how much dragon slayers can eat.

After the dinner you took a stroll down the quiet alleyways hand in hand. The sky was glittering with stars. It was so peaceful you wished you could preserve this moment forever.

A slight breeze blew as you sat down in the park overlooking the river. You sighed wistfully.

"What is it?"

Rufus asked curiously. He has been watching your face since awhile. He saw your face change from awe to peace to anger and then a disappointment.

"I was thinking whether it would remain so peaceful forever."

"I don't care whether the whole world falls apart as long as you are with me [F/N]."

"I love you Rufus."

You sighed again. He pulled you closer and kissed you deeply pouring out all his thoughts and feeling.

"I love you [F/N]."

"Since when?"

"Since the day I met you."

That's when you knew. It doesn't matter if the future is full of troubles. It would never matter because you weren't alone. You had friends.

You had a man who loved you as much as you loved him. Nothing mattered because you will be together.

You were glad everything turned out like this.

You were glad you met this wonderful mage.

You were glad you became friends with him.

Now he was yours and you were his.

And nothing can change that.
