XVIII: The True Laboratory

370 I followed her in the lab. I didn't see her.

Instead, I saw her 'bathroom' widely opened,

and a note on the floor.

I started reading it.

371 "Human, if by chance, you want to know all the 'truths' about me and

all the monsters all around the underground...

Head to the room at the front of this note.

I'll give you the answers." The note said.

372 And so I headed north.

Inside Alphys' bathroom was an elevator.

I decided to take a traverse to the lowermost part.

But an accident happened.

373 The elevator lost power.

The machine burned red, deteriorating down.

Alarms went on, sounding violently.

The elevator went on an impact.

374 It led me into a secret area they call the "True Lab".

They say it's where Alphys has been conducting experiments.

But eventually failed.

I began walking around.

375 I walked into the foggy, dark area,

spotting drips of white sticky fluid on the floor.

On the walls were Alphys' entries for her experiments.

I started reading them in order.

376 "ENTRY NUMBER 1:

This is it...Time to do what the King has asked me to do.

I will create the power to free us all.

I will unleash the power of the SOUL."

377 "ENTRY NUMBER 2: The barrier is locked by SOUL power.

Unfortunately, this power cannot be recreated artificially.

SOUL power can only be derived from what was once living.

So, to create more, we will have to use what we have now...The SOULs of monsters."

378 "ENTRY NUMBER 3: But extracting a SOUL from a living monster would require incredible power...

Besides being impractical, doing so would instantly destroy the SOUL's host.

And, unlike the persistent SOULs of humans...The SOULs of most monsters disappear immediately upon death.

If only I could make a monster's SOUL last."

379 "ENTRY NUMBER 4: I've been researching humans to see if I can find any info about their SOULS.

I ended up snooping around the castle...And found these weird tapes.

I don't feel like ASGORE's watched them...

I don't think he should."

380 "ENTRY NUMBER 5: I've done it. Using the blueprints, I've extracted it from the human SOULs.
