" So when did all this start, Mr. Raizada?"

"When my sister left me.."

"Left you? Why?"

"She is dead.."

"Oh...I am sorry.... But why did you say she left you...? You made it sound like she did it on purpose.."

"She had a choice ... and she chose to leave me.."

"I don't understand you.. How can one choose to die or not to? Did she suicide?"

"No.. She...She was pregnant...had complications. Doctor had warned her if she keeps the baby, she is risking her life. And she chose to leave me..."

"Hmmm..." the psychiatrist leaned back in his chair. "What happened to the baby?"

"He is with me..I adopted him..."

"So you love the baby?"

Arnav hesitated. Yes, he loved Abeer. But it was complicated. Back then he held Abeer responsible for his sister's death, but still would have done anything for him. He did marry a complete stranger for him. But things have changed now. He loves his family. He doesn't regrets how they came into his life.

He looked in the doctor's eyes and replied, "Yes... I love him.. "

"What would you do if your nephew was drowning?" The doctor asked.

Arnav's heartbeat picked at that question. Even the thought of something happening to his family fills him with dread.

"Please answer, Mr.Raizada.."

"I... I will go and save him.."

"Without thinking about your life.. ?"

"Without thinking about my life.." Arnav answer immediately.

"So why do you resend your sister for doing the same..?"

Arnav's head jerked up at that. He just stared at the Doctor, stunned.

Doctor rested his elbows on the desk in front of him, and studied the shocked man in front of him.

"What your sister did was very normal, Mr.Raizada ... As you told me earlier, she had just lost her husband.. she knew the pain of loss, she was living it... And she loved the baby growing inside her, didn't wanted to lose her baby too... Putting her life on risk was easier than killing her own baby... As you love your nephew, you will understand what I am saying ... . It's you think she had a choice, but to her there was no choice... "

Arnav felt the beginning of headache beating its way. And he suddenly felt restless. The doctor wasn't saying something his family hadn't told him before, but today it felt different. It was like finally the things were sinking in. The knot he always feels in his heart when he thinks of his sister felt loosening. Put in her situation, he would do the same for Abeer. It had taken time to feel that connection with Abeer, but his sister had felt it instantly. Even before he was born, she had loved him enough to give her life for him.
