“Knock, knock!” I trill, as I enter the boy’s apartment.

“Are you ready?” I nod and take Dan’s hand.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” I show Dan the packet of toffee Butterkist. “I bought these to ‘butter’ him up,” I say, putting comical emphasis on the word butter. Although this does make him laugh, I can still see that Dan is extremely nervous. “Phil, please can we talk to you?”

“Sure,” Phil says, emerging from his room.

“We’ve got something to tell you.” Dan says stiffly. He looks at me.

“Okay, you’ve got to promise that nothing will be different between the three of us.” I pause dramatically. “Me and Dan are going out.”

“Wow! I knew it would happen! This is awesome guys,” Phil says, jumping around. “I say we celebrate with an Episode of Sherlock?” Dan sighs with relief and crosses over to the sofa, where he awkwardly stretches his arm out for me. I laugh and nuzzle into his shoulder, making sure to leave half the sofa for Phil.

“I knew it was the taxi driver, I just knew it!” I scream excitedly as the killer confronts Sherlock.

“I personally thought it was the guy in the bar, seemed too sketchy for me.” Phil responds, thinking deeply.

“I blame Watson. Martin Freeman is just too awesome to be good.” Says the Martin-Freeman-Obsessed-Dan. Ultimately, it turns out that I was right- wish the taxi driver being the murderer- but Dan was also really close – with Watson killing the guy or something.

“How did you figure out the ending?” I ask Dan.

“Who says I haven’t seen this episode before?” He replies quickly with a smile.

“So,” Phil coughs. “I’ve…um…got a video to go and edit. Don’t get too crazy,” Phil waves and heads into the depths of his room.

“He took it really well, I think.”

“Yeah, I’m actually surprised. He doesn’t deal well with things like that,” He stands up and spins me around as he does. “I think it’s time to tell the world.”

“Let’s do it.”

“Hello Internet. It’s been a while, I hope you haven’t missed me too much. Someone’s invaded my bedroom today.” On cue, I jump up from behind Dan’s bed, but end up losing my balance and toppling over.

“Before we go, we have an announcement.” I sit awkwardly, twisting my hands, as Dan prepares to tell everyone our secret. “Y/N and I are going out. That’s all, see you later Internet.” The camera flicks off and I start to shake. “What’s the matter?”

“I…I don’t know…I’m terrified.” He twists around on his bed to face me.

“Y/N, you’re such a wonderful person that I love with all my heart. If they don’t like you, who cares. I do. Y/N…don’t be afraid.” I look up and lock onto his chocolate eyes. They’re soft, and I can easily see pain in them. For the first time, I feel truly completed- without a hint of doubt- and I feel passion. Only now do I realise how little I felt in the past kisses. This is real, assuring and I feel adored.

“Dan…” I say as we draw apart. “I love you.”

“Regardless of what they think?”

“Regardless.”
