Jayleigh Whitmore has been Invisible all the way through school. In one day that all changes when she comforts Ellie Hart, the most popular girl in school. Jayleigh is walking her dog Bella in the dog park when she meet Oscar and his adorable owner...
"Hi you've reached Ellie Hart. Sorry I can't take your call right now. Leave me a message and I'll get back to you."
"Gah!"
"She still not answering?"
"No it sucks. She is my best friend Junior I want to talk to her."
"We have school tomorrow. You can talk to her then."
"Do you have to go to training this afternoon?"
"Only if I want to live" Junior says with a laugh, "you are coming with me right?"
"Yeah I'm bringing my laptop. I hope the school wifi signal reaches that far."
"Thanks for the support babe."
Junior's mum was sad but excited about our move to Queensland. We had to promise to visit every second weekend and Skype call at least once a week but she is happy for us. Things with Junior and I are definitely getting more serious. We have our apartment all set just off campus. Junior has lined up a job at a music store in the city. He even found a music course he can do online for something extra. Our formal is next week and we only have two weeks left til we graduate. Junior and I have decided to take the next step in our relationship. My parents are away (of course) the night of the formal so we are going to try and have the most romantic night.
"Jay you ready?" Junior asks standing in the doorway of my room.
"Oh yep. Sorry just thinking."
"When do we move into the apartment?"
"First week of January so we will have three weeks here after school is done."
"Great." Junior kisses me before taking my hand in his. He swings my bag and his over his shoulder and leads me out of the house and towards school.
We arrive at school and instead on sitting in the grandstand I make myself comfy on a corner of the field. I lay out a picnic blanket and sit cross legged as Junior starts training. I watch for a little while before pulling my laptop into my lap. Everything is set for our apartment I'm basically looking up cheap decor to fill it with. It is basically going to be our home for at least the next four years I need it to be nice. I don't pay attention to anything happening around me until Junior calls out my name from across the field. I look up to see a football heading for my head. I put my hand up instinctively and actually catch the ball shocking the couch, the rest of the team and myself.
"HOLY COW!" Chad's yell echoes across to me and I laugh standing up and throwing the ball over to him.
"Were you aiming for me?" I laugh at him and he shrugs with a grin.
"NAME?" the coach yells over to me.
"Sorry what?"
"Uh, coach this is my girlfriend, Jayleigh."
"You're a senior?" the coach looks disappointed as he asks.
"Uh yeah."
"Damn."
"Its all good coach you've got me." Kate joins our conversation. "Beside Jay is a cheerleader I don't think she'd be able to tackle."
"If only you could catch like that." The coach says with a sigh as he turns walking back over to the bench.
Junior and I can't hold back our laughter at the look of disgust on Kate's face.
"Lucky." Kate mutters as she turns and runs back to the rest of the team.
"That was seriously amazing." Junior lifts me effortlessly onto his waist and I wrap my legs around him. "I didn't know you could catch like that?"
"Neither did I." I chuckle and Junior's lips smash down against mine.
Things have definitely been heating up with us lately it is like every kiss is about to lead to something more. Our moment is interrupted by a round of wolf whistles.
"PATTERSON! BACK TO YOUR POSITION!" The coach yells out to Junior and he reluctantly puts me down. He kisses me quickly on the forehead before moving back to where the rest of his team is.
Our team have the field for two hours before they have to let the visiting team practice. It is such a massive honour for our school to host the championship. The year has gone so quickly it is hard to believe. Our team making the championship was not a surprise it happens every year but this is the first year in a while that we have got to host.
While the boys are getting ready I'm in the hall with Ellie and the rest of the cheerleaders going over our last couple of cheers. With only ten minutes till the game starts we make our way out onto the field. Ellie explains she has been busy with preparations for moving to Sydney but I think something else is up. I don't have a chance to ask her as the boys start to make their way out. The boys come out throughout guard of honour. Chad and Junior lead the team out and when they get to us Junior kisses me. I look over at Chad and Ellie who hug and I smile. Maybe things are going to be ok.
