...

Rose sat alone at a lunch table the next day. She played around with a few of the cooked carrots that looked completely unappetizing to her with her fork. She was praying to be anywhere but at school. Not that she minded school or learning- she actually loved it- but she still barely had friends. She's met a few people, but those people were obviously turned off by her last name and the fact that she's supposed to be dead.

Rose didn't mind being alone, she actually preferred being independent, however being the new girl with no friends was not a reputation she wanted to have.

And as if her prayers were answered, two people sat across from her and looked at her curiously.

She looked up at Scott and Stiles and an amused expression spread across her face.

They just stared at her for a while, and Rose's smile began to fade into a look of confusion. She moved her head forward, gesturing for them to say something. There has to have been a reason for them to come up to her- and there was, the boys just didn't know how they wanted to phrase it.

"Alright," Stiles clapped his hands together, "I'm just going to say it: Did Derek resurrect you from the dead so he could use you to help build his pack?"

This was not what Rose was expecting.

"Excuse me?" She furrowed her eyebrows together.

Scott groaned and rolled his eyes, "What Stiles meant to say was, you're supposed to be dead." Scott continued still not understanding completely.

"Do I look dead to you?" Rose inquired with narrow eyes and slight smirk on her face.

"But...they never found the body." Stiles continued still trying to understand.

"Exactly. They never found the body, because I got up and ran away." Rose deadpanned and then leaned in closer to the two boys, "If you haven't noticed, Hales' aren't really the most liked people in this town. I wasn't going to stay if my life was going to be at risk. I wasn't going to end up like the rest of my family did."

"Where did you go?" Scott asked.

Rose pressed her lips together tightly. She hadn't really told anyone where she went, and in all honesty she didn't want to. It was no one's business but her own.

Rose opened her mouth to give him some sort of witty response, but the sounds of heels clicking distracted her. Rose turned her head around and watched as a girl walked into the cafeteria. Her short leather skirt and cheetah printed heels caught the attention of almost everyone in the room.
