I really must get around to speaking with Rachel sometime. I need to know how she feels about finding out that Alesha is her mum. It must have a huge impact on her, all that she's known in life has been based around a big secret that wasn't meant to get out. But I'm glad that the lady who she has called mum for all of her life has seen sense that Rachel had to know the truth, it must be hard for her to have to do this, I mean, she has looked after Rachel for all of her life, more than her father has done.
Alesha must be truly grateful that Rachel has had such a good upbringing. I would be if that was one of my children. Alesha doesn't seem to have handled today as well as I thought she would. She seems to be having too many doubts about it, I thought that she would have stayed a bit calmer, as she is the calm type of person when big things happen, but obviously not today.
*Flashback to 3 years ago*
The trees are swaying gently with the small breeze of the wind, it is the middle of winter so I expected it to be a bit colder. I'm on a park bench with Alesha currently watching little Lexi playing on the swings, she is so adorable.
"Mandy?" Says Alesha, snapping me out of my daydream, sounding rather like this was something important.
"Yes hun?"
"Well I really need to tell you something. I have had the urge to tell someone this for ages but I haven't been able to trust anyone that much though, I have only ever told one other person in my life. I need to know that you won't say anything at all to anyone about this, please Mandy, it would destroy me if this came out." Alesha sounds very worried.
"Of course I won't say anything to anyone, I promise. It is an honour that you trust me enough to tell me a secret." I hope this isn't something bad.
"Ok.... So... Err.. Ummm..." Stuttered Alesha.
"It's ok hun, take your time." I replied encouragingly.
"Well, um, please don't get mad at me. But I have a daughter, that nobody knows about, she doesn't even know she's mine." Alesha mumbles. Woah this is one big shock, I didn't think she would tell me something do big.
"Firstly, why on earth would I get mad at you? Secondly, why does no one know? Thirdly, how old is she? And the father?"
"I don't know because my daughter doesn't even know who her own blood mother is. Also, no one knows because we thought that it was best that no one knew, but at first her father said they would stay in touch, but then he changed his mind, oh and he was a one night stand. And she is 13 now. "
13 wow! It must have been really hard for Alesha to keep this a secret for 13 years. I know it would be hard for me if I was in that situation, I mean I am good at keeping secrets but I couldn't keep something like this if she was my daughter. I respect that Alesha wants to keep it a secret, so I will keep quiet about it, no one needs to know.
"Why did they get out of contact with you, don't you have he right to see her?" I am quite puzzled at this though, I mean why would someone not let a mother see her child?
"Her first word was 'momma' and that was to me. They didn't want her to get confused so they stopped me from seeing her. They had another child on the way and didn't want me around anymore."
"What? They stopped you from seeing her because she called you mum, which you are her real mum. That is so ridiculous, why would someone do that?  Everyone should be allowed to see their own child."
"Obviously not me. I kept writing and writing waiting for replies, I wasn't going to give up, I wanted to see my daughter, I still do now. But I kept getting nasty letters back from her dad, saying things like I am not her mum and I never will be, and I would make a really terrible mum and she has a better life without me. In each of these letters I was told to go away and leave their family alone. I just wanted to see my little girl, but they wouldn't let me. I think if it had been up to the his wife, she would have let me stay in contact, she is a nice kind hearted woman. I had a letter from her when my girl was 10. She said that my daughter, Rachel, has got a great life but she is going to meet me one day no matter what happens in her life. As that is what the woman wants, for her to know her real mum. It meant so much to me to know that the person she calls mum wants my own daughter to meet me, but she did say not to write back, all would happen in good time." Alesha says catching her breath.
"What, so you just have to wait until she is ready?" I say astonished.
"Yep, which will hopefully be very soon and I will get to see my daughter again!" Oh I do hope so for Alesha's sake.
*End of flashback*
Now that Alesha has met Rachel I am so happy for her, it must be like a whole hole in her heart has been mended.
Authors note~ Sorry if this is not the best, I wrote most of it late at night. Just saying my grammar is not the best, have probably failed my English exams, so sorry if there are any mistakes. Thanks for lovely comments throughout my story so far. Xx
