Alan Williams, the band's gig booker, called the boys to meet at the tavern at 8 PM sharp. The boys all got there and ordered up a few beers.
"Hello gentlemen. Good evening. Well, I have news," Alan started as soon as the boys sat down. John raised an eyebrow at him as if to say "go on."
"You're going to Hamburg, Germany!" Alan excitedly announced, and the boys all high fived and gushed about how excited they were.
"Okay, well we've thought of changing our name because when we're world famous, the quarrymen will sound like a bunch of lame old guys. Stu has suggested The Beatles. Thoughts?" John asked openly, and no one seemed to have a better idea. So it was settled: The Beatles were going to Germany.
Mimi was surprisingly alright with John's leaving. She signed the papers immediately, and john was grateful for that. John saw this as the end of his adolescence. He was going places and nothing was going to stop him. He was brave, he was determined, and he was drunk.
