The Note

I looked behind me to see if anyone had dropped it by accident, no one. Then I checked in front of me but once again, no one. I started to open the note but my sister came running up the aisle yelling. "Go sit down!" I practically screamed. I looked back to see her best friend, James chasing after her. I stood up In between them and told him to sit down along with her. She could be so embarrassing sometimes and as I turned to sit down my point was proven. "Calm down g.g.", I knew right away it was Marshall. We had a strange relationship, we were mean to each other to a breaking point, but we were also really close friends. I stuck my tongue out at him and sat down.

The ride home was annoying as usual. My stop was first though so we got there pretty quickly.

I got off the bus. My bus stop was about five minutes away from my house so I had a slight walk. Me and my sister started down the sidewalk. As we were walking our bus passed by and Jace screamed something through the window, but I didn't hear. It sounded a little like "text me" but I knew that would never happen. "What?!" I screamed back but the bus was gone.

At home I had a snack, chocolate covered strawberries, yummy! I ran to my room as I remembered the note I stuffed into my bag. I took it out carefully and opened up the now crumpled paper. Inside was not the decorated, beautiful poem I imagined, but instead a phone number. Should I call or not? After all, I didn't know who's number it was.

After about ten minutes of arguing back and fourth with myself, I decided to call the number. "Hello?" Answered a raspy voice. Oh my gosh! I just about dropped the phone as I realized who I was talking to. It was Jace, but why would he give his number to me? After I didn't answer him back, he hung up. I'm so awkward! I decided to text him instead.

It was about an hour later when I got my reply. Just a simple "wsp (what's up)". I decided to wait a bit so it didn't seem like I was simply waiting for his reply, though I was. I mean which girl wouldn't? I answered back a while later and after a short conversation, he asked me to meet him at the park in five minutes. I told my mom I'd be back in an hour or so and headed off to the park around the corner.

When I got there I saw Jace and nervously walked over to him. I was so scared. Looking at him from here, he looked kind of intimidating with his 5' 9 build, standing over the tiny swing set. On the other hand he was still the good looking guy from school who was funny and kind. I walked over to him and said hi. He replied with yet another "what's up?". I decided to ask him why he wanted to meet me here in the first place. "That's what friends do, isn't it?" He asked flatly and puzzled. "Oh yeah" I said, my hope deflating by the second. Well that was it. I've liked him for a few months and we're just friends. Way to go Olivia. "Oh and um...." He said stuttering. My heart leaped as I waited for what he was going to say. "I was wondering if you could come to the movies with me". I felt a rush of emotions inside of me. Excitement, worry and enthusiasm all over me. "Sure" I agreed smiling like an idiot and told him to text me the time and date.

For the rest of the evening we ran around with each other. We ended up going to

Tim Hortons and getting a drink because we were thirsty but didn't want to leave. I told him I'd pay him back but he said it was fine. I told him it was fine but he insisted and threatened to throw my money into a well. I finally let up with a huff and put my money back in my pocket. "Asshole" I muttered more to myself than him. "What was that?" He asked teasingly. "Nothing" I said pulling the cutest smile I could and walking away from him quickly. He soon caught up and we headed back to the park.

It was starting to get dark now and I told Jace that I should get going. "I could walk you if you want" he suggested, scratching the back of his neck. It was a kind offer but his house wasn't exactly close to mine. "I think I'll be ok" I say. I start down the sidewalk but hear footsteps behind, and then beside me. "No really, it's ok" he says and nudged my arm with his elbow. I smile at the ground but agree anyway.
