Capitulo 17

Since I wasn't training anymore, the days went by so slow, I was seconds away from doing something that would stop me from going crazy. I was moaning and begging Tatiana to teach me whatever she could, but she would just wave her hand and disappear, or find either Dimitri or my dad to talk to them about the war.

The war.

The stupid war that was happening the day before my birthday.

How ironic was that.

My mom kept on saying that they would fight them earlier than expected with all the killings the vampires were doing in the cities. They weren't being careful, hiding their supernaturals identities, and the humans were beginning to ask questions. The right questions.

Someone even got one of the vampires hunting on tape. It was a worldwide, most watched video, but many of them were saying it was all fake, and that they could even see the "dead" human twitching and breathing after the guy dropped him to the floor.

"What's going to happen to the humans?" I whispered to her one night, when we talked about having to fight some hunters.

"They will die honey. We have no choice. It's either be the hunter, or be hunted."

A loud shriek brought me out of my peaceful thoughts, and had me running out my room to find the source. There was another yell, and then heavy stomps as someone came by behind me. I was still frozen at the top of the stairs when Eveline marched into my sight, fuming, with a smug looking Noah behind her.

"Leave. Me. Alone. You. Asśhole." She screamed as she grabbed my frozen arm and began to yank me behind her, officially putting me between both of them. "I am so pissed at you."

"You weren't when we-"

"JUST SHUT UP!" She shrieked and then bursted out into tears. My eyes widened as she stopped a few steps above the main floor, flung her arms around my neck, and sobbed in the crook of my neck.

"Ev... babe... don't be mad at me." He gave me an apologetic look as he tried to squeeze himself in between us, but back away when she just tried to bite his hands.

"Don't touch me. I don't want to be anywhere near you right now."

Noah paled a bit, but nodded and didn't follow us as she continued to drag me somewhere. I was surprised that no one else had witnessed that small moment, and I was even more surprised when we went outside without any guards.

"Where are we going?" Her grip loosened a bit, but she still continued to drag me west of the house, to a section of the forest I had never been before. Yeah, sure I had been here for a few months already, but it's not like I had anyone to show me. My parents were always busy dealing with their royal of war duties; Ali was basically glued to Tom, who kept on taking her on dates and pampering her like a princess. Noah and Aria were always training, or working around the pack grounds, like the royal children they were. Eveline had resumed her duties as a medic-in-training with Quinn, so she was always busy healing and learning the aches and pains of the body.

I was the only one who didn't have anything. I was the only one who was sitting around, watching everyone else go on with their lives, while my life hanged on the balance with every passing second.

"The cabin. This cabin was purposely made for both my mom and I. It's the only place in the entire kingdom where we can be humans, and not have to worry about any werewolves or mates." As she spoke, a small, normal looking cabin came into view. The front had two oval windows, surrounding the wooden door. There were a couple of pots of flowers hanging on the roof, and the small shrubs of flowers that were located underneath the windows were the only spots of color that framed the building. "They understand. Dad built it for us, and told everyone that once we are in here, we are to not be bothered unless it's an emergency. I've only had to come here once; I was mad at Noah, like today."
