Knock. Knock. Knock.

I throw the blanket over my head, blocking out the knocking disturbing my much needed beauty sleep. What? I've to look good for him. For the date that's even only possible if my dad gets his knickers out of wherever they're.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Valeria!"

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Valeria open the door. Someone wants to say good morning."

"Just get the hell away." I shout. "You're disturbing me." Silence. Silence? Weird. That was quite easy. Or not.

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.

I whip my head up and glare at the flippen door. What an achievement. They finally made it to four knocks per minute. They should be proud of themselves.

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.

Five? Pleasant surprise they're not collapsing and dying from pride. What? It's an accomplishment. A personal best kind of thing. They...

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.

"God, can't you just let me be in peace whoever the hell you're." I bellow. "Which part of I want to sleep isn't understandable."

"Open." The voice comes off weirdly aloof.

"Mom?"

"Yes, sweety?" Her voice sounds sweeter than Cuban dulces.

"What do you want?" I ask. "Go away."

"No." She declares. "Open the door Valeria."

"No?" I perk up grumpily. "Watch me."

We're back to it again. Silence. Good?

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.

"AAAAHHHHH!" I scream into the pillow, releasing the repressed frustration. I stand up grouchily and find my way towards the door. I was about to inflict verbal violence on my mother when my eyes zoomed onto a tiny bundle of joy staring up at me with most gorgeous brown eyes.

"Victor!" I shout, startling him a little. I pluck him out of my mom's arms and immediately start cooing him, turning around and moving back to my bed.

I dart my head back towards my mom. "You and dad are not my favorite people right now. Meaning you're not welcome inside my room. Thanks for bringing me my brother." I fake a smile and focus my attention back on Victor.

"Stop being a spoilt brat Valeria." She walks inside my room against my better judgement.

"Oh I'm being a spoilt brat for demonstrating my burning dislike for the two of you?" I glower at her. "Let me refresh your memory exactly why I don't like you two anymore. First, you decided to apply  at a school outside the country without my consent which I only found about—"

"We were going to tell you?" She cuts me off.

"Oh, when was that gonna be?" I narrow my eyes at her. "Two days before I leave? And don't get me started on your husband that forbade me from seeing Pius. As if we're living in the stone ages. I am practically on house arrest. You two are manhandling me. I was supposed to be on my date five days ago but just because someone wasn't in the mood I wasn't allowed to go. You know..." I stop when a high pitch cry pierced through my ears. It's Victor.

"Awww... baby." I murmur. "I'm sorry for scaring you. Shhh..." I start bobbing his cradled form in my arms trying to produce a calming effect. Instead of tranquilizing, he gets worse.
