Awkward Greetings

Kenzie POV.

I looked outside my window and noticed every little scene quickly fading away as the car ran past it. My mind was bursting out of excitement. I turned my phone on almost every minute starring at the time. Every second felt longer and longer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I was on my way to meet my best friends. It's been a year since I've seen them in person. Every year I go to the same summer camp. Camp Woodbridge. Almost every good memory I've had, has been over there.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I've been going to the same camp for almost six years. I know what you're thinking, 'Doesn't it get boring?'. My answer to that is no. That's the thing with Camp Woodbridge, you'll never get tired of it. Every year it feels the same, the same exciting feeling I get in my stomach every time I enter camp. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"We there yet?" I asked my mom impatiently. "Almost." She replied getting slightly annoyed. I wouldn't blame her. I was acting like a child. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Honey, I still don't understand why you wanna go to the same camp every year." She said with a small laugh. "Mom, you don't understand. It's the only time I can meet Annie and Hayden." I replied. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Annie is basically like a sister to me. She's been one of my best friends since I could remember. Every memory I have of camp is with Annie... and Hayden. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Hayden is... well Hayden is complicated. It hasn't been the same with him since he told me he liked me by the lake last year. That's just the problem though. I've never really thought of Hayden more than a friend. Annie on the other hand has been crushing on him since we met. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Okay, I guess we're here." My mom said stopping the car. I looked outside the window and saw our camp. It gave me such a comforting feeling looking at the big wooden sign with the words, 'CAMP WOODBRIDGE' on it. I smiled with full excitement on my face.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Bye honey, make sure to call me every hour with a update." My mom said looking back at me. My eyes rolled at her overprotective mom rules. "Every hour mom? Seriously?!" I laughed. "What?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I opened the car door and got my bags out of the trunk. I took a steady breath and started to gradually walk to the gate. "I'm serious Kenz every hour!" I heard my moms scream from the distance. I laughed at the sight of her head popping out the window. "Okay mom, bye!" I cupped my hands around my mouth and yelled to her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀When I turned my head around my eyes filled with hysteria. "KENZIE!" My best friend Annie yelled. "ANNIE!" I yelled back. I dropped my bags to the ground and ran to her. I threw my arms around her pulled her into a hug. "Oh my god! I missed you so much!" I yelled still not letting go. "Me too!" She replied. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Annie! You will not bel–" I looked up and saw none other than Hayden. "Oh... hey Kenzie." He said in a mellow voice. "Uh hey, Hayden." I said awkwardly. "Seriously guys! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Uh yea, sure." He replied. "Ugh this better not be like this the whole summer." Annie groaned. Annie was those really straight up people, she's not afraid to say what's on her mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I grabbed one of the camp manuals and started reading what activities was going on for today. "Um, sorry to disturb you, but do you know where the sign in area is?" I heard a voice say. I looked up to see a boy with insanely green eyes and dirty blonde hair. "Uh, yea I'm actually about to go there now. Just follow me." I replied. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Oh okay, thanks." He replied. His voice was so soft yet so deep, kinda sexy. "No problem, I'm Mackenzie by the way, but you can call me Kenzie for short." I replied.
