Check Your Facts

Does it bother you when people write about something they know nothing about?

Well, then this chapter is for you!

Okay, I don't know why I started the chapter that way. But it's quite funny to see people talk about a topic they don't really know about.

They might do a few minutes of research and then come back and write a chapter on the small amount of information they learned. But don't you dare criticise them, because they are experts on the topic (I'm being sarcastic).

That brings me to my next point. Not only do some people write about things they don't know, but they also get upset if you point out the true facts.

The key is to write about what you know, not what you think you know from two minutes of research. I know this doesn't apply to every book (because, after all, some are fiction and were meant to be imaginative). But two minutes of research will not guarantee you are an expert on a certain topic.

Really, all you need to do is check your facts. You'll be a lot better off by doing so.
