Sahar Luna as Briana Rutherford

Briana Rutherford is a hard working and confident girl. She lives in Los Angeles, California and works in a Starbucks as a barista. Briana unexpectedly decided to stay in Los Angeles when her parents and two siblings left to live in a different state, Briana wanting to stay because Los Angeles is her home. Because of the unexpected plan, she only had a small amount of money and had to get a small apartment that really wasn't what she wanted. Her wages are decent now, but she really wishes that she could one day move out of her small apartment and into something much better. Briana's main reason for staying in Los Angeles was that her childhood best friend, Brennen Taylor, lived alongside her in Los Angeles and she didn't want to lose their friendship. But it happened. They both lost contact and haven't spoken, nor seen each other since the day Briana's family left. Briana thinks that Brennen thinks that she had moved with them and that's why he hasn't reached out, but you never really know. Then came that one day that Briana had been doing her regular job and Brennen had came sauntering through the door.

-Briana's POV-

It was just another day, waking up to sunny Los Angeles. The sun was shining very brightly through my curtains, my eyes squinting as I woke up to my alarm.

"Another day of work" I said to myself as I got up and put on my usual work uniform. Working in Starbucks wasn't as bad as you think. Well, if you didn't get a rude customer, it was fine but sometimes there's those customers that you could scream at but you have to keep your smile on to hide the fact you're losing your shit with them. That's what I think anyway. As I was applying my makeup, I listened to some music, making sure I wasn't running behind schedule. It would be my worst nightmare to be late for work. I just felt better being really early than really late. Just in time to grab a snack to eat on the way to work and to leave, I had finished getting ready, rushing around the apartment and making sure I had everything. I quickly rushed out of my apartment, trying to scoff down a sandwich whilst locking my apartment door. After fumbling around with my keys, I rushed out to my car and sped off, trying to dodge the Los Angeles traffic. It was the one thing I hated about this place.

"Everything is grey, his hair, his smoke, his dreams" I sang as Halsey played on the radio, tapping my index fingers on the steering wheel as I pulled into the Starbucks parking lot. I locked my car and quickly headed inside, seeing my coworkers/friends getting ready themselves.

"You're bright and early" my friend Xavier smiled cheekily at me.

"Aren't I always?" I cocked my eyebrow up as I got myself ready to start working.

"Don't listen to him, he's been annoying me ever since we got in" my other friend Rachel came out of the back, slapping Xavier as she walked past him.

"When is Xavier not annoying?" I joked, Xavier frowning at me. The day started off slow, barely any customers coming in up until about noon. It was crazy in here.

"Can I have an iced caramel macchiato?" A customer asked as I picked up a plastic cup and a sharpie out from my pocket.

"Yep and what's your name?" I asked, the customer answering as I scribbled down their name and served the next customer. Sometimes this job could be pretty stressful. Luckily, the place calmed down a bit and there were only a few customers coming in and out. It was only Monday. It got progressively busier as the week went on, so Monday's were easy. Just as I was writing down something, I heard a voice that I hadn't heard in years. His laughter gave me butterflies and I tried to hide myself but, I knew I would have to serve him. I was just scared to see him again.

"Hey could I get a-wait! I know you" Brennen looked up at me a snapped his fingers, looking at the guy beside him. "You're Briana" his face lit up as I grinned. I was surprised he even remembered what I looked like.

"And you're Brennen" I nodded my head, Brennen smiling at me.

"I thought you left with your parents to go live in a different state?" Brennen placed his hand on his forehead.

"Nope, I stayed" I pushed a stray piece of hair behind my ear. The guy beside him looked completely clueless as to what was actually going on and it made me laugh a little.

"Dude, you have to come sit with us and catch up with me. You're my childhood best friend!" He jumped around in excitement, a few customers giving him strange looks.

"I guess I could get you guys something to drink and then take an early break. I'm sure Rachel and Xavier wouldn't mind" I bit my lip while smiling, fixing the two boys up with their drinks.

"How much is it?" Brennen took out his wallet, searching around for money.

"It's on the house" Brennen held up his hand to high five me, the other boy giggling a little. He was actually quite attractive. I wondered who he was. Brennen introduced me to his friend known as Colby Brock. I had to say, I couldn't stop glancing at Colby.

"So where do you live?" Brennen asked me.

"Sorry, stranger danger" I winked at him, Colby laughing. "Jokes, I live in a decent apartment. I wanna try save up for a bigger apartment or something" my fingertips grazed the to-go cup I had set on the table.

"You could always move in with me until you're able to afford a bigger apartment" Brennen suggested. "I would also love a roommate" he smiled at me.

"Really? Are you sure you would be okay with that?" I gasped, surprised he was even considering letting me live with him.

"Of course! You're like my sister anyway" he shrugged.

"A sister that fell out of touch" I mumbled, sipping on my drink.

"I have got to find out you guys' history" Colby pointed between Brennen and I.

"Oh trust me, we go waaaaay back" Brennen used hand gestures to emphasise how far back we go.
