small time skip: alysha's pov

science. my worst subject. i hate it. it's complicated, and confusing. although, so far, this lesson has been chill. mr. payne is very nice and understanding. he let me choose where i wanted to sit; so i chose the very back, on my own. he came over and explained everything, in detail, what we're doing. and he gave me some books, that i can keep, to help me catch up.

usually, teachers don't do all that. not to me they don't anyway. so, it's nice, and i feel welcomed for once.

"how're you doing alysha?" mr. payne asks with a nice, wide smile as he walks over towards me. "alright, i think." i sigh. "what d'you mean?" he asks as he sits next to me. "it's just that, i really don't like science sir. it's complicated and confusing." i truthfully say. mr. payne sighs. "i understand alysha, but i do need you to keep trying." he says. "i am sir. i am." i nod. "good." he smiles at me.

"can i ask you something?" i ask. "sure." mr. payne shrugs. "why do i need to know about cells in a leaf?" i ask. mr. payne chuckles, "in case you go on to study plants or something." "but i'm not, sir." i say. "then what are you gonna do after you leave school?" he asks. "stripper." i jokingly say. mr. payne laughs, "you do you. that's all i'm gonna say." "i'm not really." i lightly laugh. "then what are you gonna do?" mr. payne asks. "hopefully - and i say hopefully - travel the world." i smile. "oh, and be like a photographer or something?" he asks. "or model." i shrug. "that'd be cool." mr. payne says.

"anyway. stop distracting me. carry on working." mr. payne says as he stands up. "okay, sir." i sigh.
