19: Tetris in a Twist
Rhys
So many things are happening all at once.
Alec is breathing in and out on the floor with his hands clutching his upper leg while hissing "God, that's so close to my balls."
Tripper is still growling and barking, his head low, ears flat and his rear up in the air, ready for another attack.
Chaos—err, a freaking pandemonium is taking place outside, a chorus of the name 'Alec' disperses through thin air only to start again.
My phone keeps pinging from the table.
And me? I'm frozen on the spot.
It takes everything in me to utter the words. But I'm so lost, I have no idea what to do first. Do I tend to Alec? Should I secure Tripper in my room? Or should I close the curtain? Or do I turn my phone off first because it's goddamn annoying? Noises come from every direction as I look at Alec who has blood dripping from two holes Tripper's canines indented on his leg. "What do I do?"
Alec looks up at me, then to my fiddling hands and back to my eyes that are wide in alarm. He takes a deep breath before speaking, "Why don't you get Tripper's attention first? He's getting a little scary, Red."
That and Tripper barking more loudly this time snap me into action. I call my dog's name twice and gesture for him to follow me. He was reluctant at first before he gives Alec another threatening growl, his little feet carrying him to me while side-eyeing Alec.
Once I close the door of my bedroom with much hesitance due to the big pair of guilty puppy eyes staring back at me, I walk to the kitchen to get our hidden first aid kit. Then I find Alec sitting on the sofa, his eyes closed and his legs up on the table. His injured one has stopped bleeding. Thank the Gods... again.
Silence engulfs us as I close the windows and curtains.
I sit on the floor beside him, taking out some bandages and ointments. "Can you stand up and wash the wound on the bathroom?"
He nods, already standing up. "Yeah, sure."
"It's in the kitchen. First door on the left."
After I put out everything I need, the water is still running. So I grab my phone and turn it on silent. There are a dozen messages on my notification box, a few missed calls and hundred alerts on Twitter. I sigh, laying it on the table face down. I don't want to deal with any of it right now.
Then Alec walks out not a minute later and everything around me stops.
A gasp leaves my lips as I watch him come to where I'm sitting wearing only his boxer shorts, his denim pants hanging on his forearm. My jaw unhinges as my eyes focus on his south region.
Oh.
My.
God.Who in the ever-loving gods I've been calling on my unfortunate circumstances will this... t-this... scene in front of me to unfold!
"I figured you wouldn't be able to clean the wound with my pants on, so I took it off." He perches on the same spot he occupied earlier, his legs that are dusted with dark, coarse hair are on my eye level.
