20: Tetris in The Truth
Rhys
"Any back door around here?"
"There's a large window in my room that can fit two persons. Leads to an alleyway connected to the main street."
Blank stare.
"If you're willing to jump from fifteen floors off the ground, it's there."
Alec shakes his head and goes back to texting on his phone. "That's a... good offer. Let's save it when we don't have any more choice to get out of here, shall we?"
My shoulders lift in a shrug as I peek between the curtains. Just like a couple of weeks ago, a crowd looking like a colony of ants from up here fills the narrow street. Placards with phrases along the lines of We Love You Alec MacSweeny, Talk British To Me Alec, I'm your #1 fan Alec and —coughs— I'LL LICK YOUR SWEAT TO SAVE WATER float in the air.
Goosebumps freaking crawl down my spine like that of a cluster of spiders going from one place to another. God, how exactly environmentarian are you?
I don't even care if environmentarian isn't even a word yet. But for some reason, the name environmentalist just doesn't do the girl's rare initiative a justice.
"Does it get crazier than this?" I ask Alec as a girl who is raised on the air lifts up her shirt, flashing her naked breast on the general direction of my room. My lips pull on a twist as I read Alec's name on her skin written in black marker. Hope that's not permanent... or tattooed.
"What is it?" He comes up behind me and gently pushes me away from the window, his hand remains on my shoulder as he scans the area. He whistles, "Nice tits."
I roll my eyes and swat his hand off my shoulder. A groan escapes me as I throw my body on the sofa. "You know, it's a miracle that the guards can still hold them up. Majority of the time, they snore their way through their duty."
"Holland sent a few security personnel here while he misdirects them on social media."
"What's he gonna do?"
"Not exactly sure, but I guess he'll release some photos of me doing things somewhere."
An entire hour passes by and there are people still lingering outside. The noise has died down. Most of them are just sitting now or leaning against brick buildings, fanning themselves as the afternoon heat intensify.
Alec said that Holland would be here in a couple more hours. Unfortunately, he'd been caught up with another famous actress' rising dispute with her current director. Which is why he gave the band's training publicist a free rein to misdirect the public.
But whatever the trainee is doing in social media or the media in general seemed to be not working yet. It's not wrong to hope that we're going to lose them in another couple of hours though. Preferably before Holland gets here.
"What happened with your last publicist?" I ask Alec who frowns at the stack of UNO cards in front of us.
We decided to play some card games to pass the time, both of us not in the mood to write something. Even when there were no words said, we are worried that someone will find out where my room is.
