'Hey whore! Wake up!' I heard a man yell. I couldn't make out whom though. All I could see now was a sea of darkness. The lights were off in my head. For a moment I thought I was dead.

But as I felt hot, blistering water being poured on my face, I knew I wasn't dead.

'Wake up! We're leaving!' I finally recognised the voice of the man. It was fucking Roger. I sat and lifted my eyelids. I almost wanted to scream as I realised my eyes were already open. I couldn't see anything.

I brought my hand up to my face and touched the part under my eye. My eyes were open alright. I was blind. 'I can't see! I can't fucking see!' I yelled. I covered my burning face with my hands and screamed some more. My face continued to sizzle as my salty tears came down. I kicked and screamed and desperately tried to see something.

Even to see the ugly, scruffy face that belonged to Roger would be a relief. I felt big hands enclose around my neck.

I immediately stopped crying because it was getting harder and harder to breathe.

'Don't you dare scream or I will snap that little neck of yours!' Roger tightened his grip, ‘Now I'm going to put you in the car and you're going to stay quiet. After that, I'll maybe consider taking you to see a doctor.'

I felt myself being lifted and taken outside. The cold air made my face feel less hot. I actually felt calmer now.

Until I was put in the backseat of a car. I held in tears as he threw me on the seat and started up the car. I laid down on the seat and kept blinking my eyes. I wanted so badly to see. This whole ordeal was bad enough but now I had to do it without vision.

I could only imagine what I looked like right now. My face was most likely red and blistered from the hot water. My eyes were probably swollen too.

I took my mind off my appearance as Roger's car skidded to a stop. I lurched forward and hit my head on the seat. You can add bruise on head to the appearance thing. Roger climbed out and opened the back door.

He grabbed me and slung me over his shoulder. I cringed as I felt the sun beat down on my still burnt face.

Roger knocked swiftly on a door and I quickly heard the creaking of the door opening.

'What the hell do you want Romero?' I heard a woman say. Romero? Who's Romero?

'I need help, mother. Fix her?' Roger handed me over and soon I was in the arms of someone with cold hands.

I'm assuming it was the woman. She placed her hands on my face and I felt myself relax as her ice-cold hands soothed my face. I wished I could see her. 'What did you do to this child?!' I heard the woman scream. She placed me on a soft place.

'When you love somebody mother, you need to teach them who the boss is. That way they never leave you.'

I heard a shocked gasp come from the woman. 'I knew this would happen. I knew one day you'd go crazy. You were a horrible child! Not to mention a sick teenager. Go! Get away from here!'

I heard Roger yelp as something whacked against him. 'I'm coming back for her!' Roger yelled as the door slammed shut. I heard the light footsteps of the woman approach me.

She covered me in a blanket and brushed my hair back with her hand.

'My name is Carla. I'm a certified nurse and I'll try to fix the mess my son made of your beautiful face.' Carla placed a wet cloth on my eyes and then placed some sort of lotion on the rest of my face.

I let out a relived sigh as the pain seemed to cease all at once. Carla reminded me so much of my mother.

'What's your name child?' Carla asked me as she wrapped my scarred hands in bandages.

'Alaina, why can't I see?' I asked. Carla removed the cloth from my eyes and opened my eyelids. I could only see the darkness, but I saw a small flash of light.

'Your eyes reacted to the flashlight, so I'm guessing your vision should come back soon. I'll give you a shot and it will spend things along.'

I felt the air whoosh to me as Carla stood and left. I soon felt her come back and before I could realise what she was doing the needle was in my arm.

'Shush, shush. This will help your vision come back, child!' Carla caressed my face and placed the cloth back on my eyes. My mind filled with flashbacks when Roger stuck his needle in my neck.

I heard screams and they were coming from my mouth. I lasted back and forth. Carla held my arms down and I struggled against them.

'Please don't hurt me! Please!' I screeched. Carla kept shushing me and soon my screams turned to whimpers.

'What did he do to you, Alaina?!' Carla asked. She seemed like she was going to cry.

'Things that will haunt me for the rest of my life.' I shut my eyes then as the images began to get clearer and my screams began to get louder.
