9- From son to king

DURJAN SINGH makes his way to AKBAR'S court

DURJAN SINGH

No losses yet to be recorded
As prince Salim claims another win,
Men paced onto the scarlet bed,
He tore heads and skinn'd their skin

AKBAR

And how many wounds for Salim to claim this win?

DURJAN SINGH

Countless! Scars of swords and spears,
Maces did bite and arrows did sting
But the shining swords bent in fear
Of Prince Salim and the Mughal king

All the past must slip to the rear,
The Prince's letter I do bring

AKBAR

Read it aloud Baba!

BABA

'With the help of the supreme legions
During the war torn years in snow and mud,
Here's an account of all the regions
I've made mine with Akbar's blood

Ceased has the fourteen year blood thirst
But Salim's scarlet has other plans,
Where shall I pour my blood first?
Valleys of tribes or the fishing clans'

AKBAR

In proudness and joy my heart does burst,
Go! Bring Salim home in jewelled caravans
