"If this is my last night with you
Hold me like I'm more than just a friend
Give me a memory I can use
Take me by the hand while we do
What lovers do
It matters how this ends
'Cause what if I never love again?"
—Adele

Clouds.

I'm walking across a trail of clouds, leading to who knows what, but I don't care. My hair dances with the wind. The rays of the sun gently kiss my skin, making me warm.

My honey eyes make contact with a tall, broad figure. And I feel safe. Happy even. The figure moves closer, I can see every curve of its body—his body. He moves to me, in powerful strides, making me shiver in delight. We come face to face and he leans closer to me, our lips only a breath away. I want to kiss him oh so badly. He places a gentle kiss on the tip of my nose and rests his forehead against mine.

"Meredith," My name rolls off his tongue like silk. "Meredith . . ." I sigh in pleasure. I never want him to stop saying my name. "Meredith . . . wake up baby." I furrow my eyebrows. "Wake up Meredith, we don't want to miss school do we?"

Son of a biscu—

My eyes flutter open, and my sight goes from blurry, to crystal clear. I turn my body over and look around. My iPhone beside me buzzes. I grab it and answer the call before I read the contact.

"Hello?"

"Angel, good morning."

My eyes widen. "Reid?"

"Yes. Get ready for school. I'm on my way in five."

The line goes dead and I pull the phone away from my face. What just happened?

I apply light makeup—again, making sure my bruise is covered. Just because people have seen it recently, doesn't mean I want them to see it now. I went with a mauve knit sweater, black jeans, and booties for my outfit. I brushed my teeth and headed downstairs.

"Good morning, baby!" Lisa screamed. I winced at how loud she was, she was either a total morning person, or caffeine got the best of her.

"Good morning, Lisa!" I returned. Oliver walked in, and not too long after, Holly entered.

"Morning Mere," Oliver said and kissed my cheek and ruffled my hair. I swat his hands away and glare at him.

"Morning sista!" Holly kissed my opposite cheek and I giggled. They were beginning to feel more and more like family. "We're going shopping today! We're gonna buy some more cute outfits for fall!"
