Currently, Lance was being complete idiot.

Now, ask yourself: If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you?

Obviously, you've always been told that you wouldn't, or shouldn't. But then, think about it this way: If the boy you loved decided to go on a mission, and that mission was to try and get intel about his family, and this intel was within about one hallway away from the emperor of the alien race that wants you and all of your friends, all by himself, would you follow him in go make sure he wouldn't DIE?

Of course you would.

So that's EXACTLY what Lance did.

"Why are you here?" Keith whispered loudly. They were in a small storage closet, waiting for a chance to move.
"I wasn't letting you go by yourself! That's dangerous!" Lance spat back. He had snuck on the small pod that Keith had took. In the dim, purple light, Lance could see that Keith's eyebrows were knit together and his lips were sealed tightly. That were squished together quite close, trying not to knock over the clutter and old weapons that were piled into the small closet.
"I can handle this myself! I don't need you to protect me." Keith sounded angry, but there seemed to be a secret sadness to his words. Lance sighed dramatically.
"I'm not here because I think you need protecting," Lance turned to face Keith a bit better. "I'm here because someone has to make sure you don't get yourself killed, Mullet. There's a difference." Although he wasn't quite sure what the difference was. Keith huffed a bit and leaned against the wall. Lance could tell he was struggling to find words to argue with.
"Fine, but just don't get in my way," The words were harsh, but Keith said them with an almost softness  to them. Lance smirked, seeing as he won. "I think we'll be in here for awhile, no one has moved from the room in, like, two hours," Keith pulled up a screen from the armor on his wrist. "Bring any food?"
"You went on a secret mission all my yourself and didn't bring food? Yes, I brought food!" Lance pulled out two peanut butter sandwich looking things in a bag from a pocket in his armor. "It's a good thing I'm here, geez." He handed one to Keith.
"Did Hunk make these?" Keith asked, mouth full of food.
"Yeah, but he didn't ask any question when I asked if he would. Hunk's a good guy like that." Lance took a bite himself. Hunk had made peanut butter sandwiches before, at the Garrison. It filled him with a couple bittersweet memories, and he suddenly realized he stopped eating.
"You good?" Keith asked suddenly, bringing him back to reality.
"What? Oh, yeah, I'm fine." Lance said, bringing the sandwich-thing back to his mouth but not taking a bite.
"You literally just stopped eating and we're staring out into space. That's not "fine." I've got plenty of time," Keith rolled his eyes at the security footage. "So talk to me." Lance sighed, realizing how hot it was in the closet.
"Hunk made me these at the Garrison. Just brought back memories from home, that's all." Lance shifted a bit farther from Keith.
"You really miss Earth, don't you?" Keith asked, a sudden affection in his voice that made Lance blush slightly.
"Well, yeah. My whole family is there...waiting for me." Lance said solemnly.
"You'll come home to them." Keith said, no longer really whispering.
"You think so?"
"I'll make sure." He couldn't really see Keith entirely, but he could have sworn he was blushing.
"Keep saying those kinds of things, I might start using my pick up lines on you." Lance said, before he could stop himself.
"You're one to talk! You're the one who came on this mission to watch my ba-" It suddenly dawned on both boys what things they were saying. Lance giggled at how flustered Keith got.
"If you're trying to flirt-"
"I'm not!" Keith sounded like a four year old.
"All I'm saying is, it could use some work." Lance was screaming internally, but kept a cool facade on the outside. Keith, however, seemed to be redder than a tomato.
"You're impossible. Besides, don't you like Allura?"
"Allura? No! I mean, she's like my cool older sister, not really my type." Lance took a bite of the sandwich.
"But you flirt with her?"
"Dude, I flirt with like, everyone. Have you ever heard one of Hunk and I's conversations?" Lance could see a look of subtle realization on Keith's face.
"Okay...well who do you like?"
"Keith, were not in seventh grade. Does it matter?"
"Well, there's no use flirting with you if there's someone else. Is it the girl who stole you lion that one time?"
"No."
"Is it one of those mermaids?"
"Nooo." Lance replied, a bit annoyed.
"Are you sure it's not Allura?"
"Yes!"
"Shiro? Hunk?"
"No and no."
"Okay well that doesn't leave me much more options, and I wouldn't think it'd be Pidg-"
"It's you, you idiot! Geez, get a clue." Lance crossed his arms across his chest, feeling the warm rise to his cheeks.
"Me?" Keith squeaked. For a moment, Lance thought he should take it back, but his was too far in the hole, so he dived in.
"Yes, you. You're Keith. The cool, mysterious, school drop out. You're the one who does all the cool stuff. And I'm..." Lance sighed once more. "I'm just Lance."
For awhile, Keith was silent, and Lance thought he might have ruined everything.
"You're not just Lance, you're-" Keith's eyes drifted to his wrist. "Hey, they left!" The room was completely empty except for the computer Keith wanted to get to.
"Let's go then." Lance said, but Kieth pulled him back down to the ground before he stood up fully.

Then Keith kissed him.

It wasn't very long, but Lance was still shocked when Keith let go.
"You're more than just Lance, stupid. Let's go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hurry up, would you? If we get caught, we get hurt, and the pods are still not working!" Lance whispered urgently.
"Still?" The pods has suddenly malfunctioned, maybe because it was a centuries old castle, and Coran and Hunk had been trying to fix them all day.
"Yes, are you done yet?" Lance's voice was still a bit giddy from their kiss a few minutes back.
"Yep, just gotta-"
"Paladins Of Voltron! So glad you could join me," An eery voice echoed through the room. The two boys turned around to see Haggar and two of her druids standing near the door.
"Let's begin, shall we?"
