"Do you really think we should be heading this way?" I ask Sam as we walk hand in hand. We're both a little tipsy and attempting to find our way home without having to call a cab. Sam insisted on walking, even though it's nearly three in the morning.

"Relax, I know where we're going." He pulls on my hand, forcing me to stumble forward in my heels and making me squeal. Using my other hand to cup my mouth, I let out a laugh as he makes a face at the sound that had escaped my lips seconds ago.

There aren't many cars out at this time of night, making for a peaceful walk home through the town. The moon is high in the sky, casting a subtle glow over us as we make our way down W Union St.

We were laughing so hard that we hadn't heard the footsteps following us. It wasn't until they grabbed me that we realized we weren't alone. I was kicking and attempting to scream, but he had a hand clamped over my mouth. The other guy, a much bigger guy was holding Sam back.

"Give me all your fucking money! Now!" He growled, forcing Sam backwards with a shove. Sam attempted to throw a punch but the man was too quick.

Sam fell limp onto the concrete sidewalk, the gunshot resonating in my ears on a continuous loop. The man who was holding me slammed me against the wall of the building beside us.

My head throbbed.

My vision blurred.

Strangled screams escaped my lips as I tried to crawl to where Sam laid lifeless.

"Sam!"

"Someone help!"

The silhouettes of the men began to get closer, with each step they took my fear grew stronger.

"Where do you think you're going, baby?"

And then everything went black.

And then everything went black
