RENEE Tozier has always been afraid of the dark, every since she was very young. She doesn't even remember how the fear start that's how long it haunted her. She doesn't think people understand how bad the fear got to her, even in her sleep she wasn't safe from it. There was times when she would wake up, her pajamas drenched in sweat from the nightmares. Of course the only one that knew this was her brother, sharing a room and all.

When it became so bad she couldn't go back to sleep--or even close her eyes for long because of how bad it was--they would stay up late, building and playing in a fort. Staying as quiet as possible at times when they knew their parents were asleep down the hall, not wanting to risk them waking.

"Richie! Keep it down!" She giggled, smashing a pillow into his face. He never cared who he was talking to, he always had some kinda dirty joke to tell. They would stay up until they couldn't keep their eyes open any longer. It was then, when she was so worn out, and so tired that her thoughts would completely forget about the nightmares and she could sleep peacefully.

In the morning they would watch their dad leave and listen to their mother snore as she slept on the couch. During the day they kept out of the house, because to her that house isn't her home. It's a place to sleep. Her parent's ruined it for her, her dad always at work never wanting to watch his kids grow. Their mom was always drunk, never home or passed out on the couch. If she is awake it's like Renee had a hard time breathing, always jumping at little things. Her mom scared her, just like the dark did.
