A/N: firstly I want to say happy thanksgiving! Hope you all enjoy a wonderful day with your friends and families. Second I want to say, if you are reading this, thank you! I know I haven't updated in a long time so you sticking with the book means a lot to me. Lastly, I want to dedicate this chapter to a very very close friend of mine. I've been promising her a chapter for a long time, so here it is! I really hope you enjoy it, happy thanksgiving.

I rushed out after doing another check around the the bank in case I missed anything. I changed into my regular clothes I kept stashed at Solar Labs and grabbed my briefcase hoping I wasn't going to be fired on the spot. I stopped in front of the bank and ran in.

"Captain I'm so sorry. I was, um, helping out a friend and lost track of time. Her dog is really sick and I was helping her clean her house cause there's just vomit everywhere and..."

"Enough! I don't care about your personal problems! Go do your job!"

"Yes sir," I walked to the back of the bank and found a security guard dead in front of the vault. The M.E. came over and began examining the body.

"I'll get everything I can off the body and bring you anything I find."

"Wait! There's perspiration on his forehead and hands. Dead people don't sweat. He has a pulse; he's still alive, get the paramedics in here!"

They rushed in with a gurney and took him to the ambulance. I took my phone out and dialed Jake's number.

"Hey Jake, you have an incoming. He's in critical condition. Bullet close to the heart, he's barely hanging on, we thought he was dead."

"I'll get everything ready for surgery, thanks for letting me know."

"No problem. I still got a crime scene to process. Love you, see you later."

"Love you too, bye." He said and hung up. I sighed and looked around, taking in the crime scene and analyzing it. I tried to figure out how I would explain that I saw everything without giving my identity away. Maybe I'd make up a story about how I became friends with Lightning and now use her as my source. No, no, that wouldn't work, especially not in court. I sighed and began collecting evidence.

After I was done at the lab I stopped at backyard burgers and got what I had been getting because of my insane appetite. Three triple patty cheeseburgers, two extra jumbo fries, and two extra large strawberry milkshakes. Delicious. Unhealthy, but delicious. Plus I burned off all the calories with an easy run to Jazzy's. Then another three pizzas. #dontjudgeme. I sat in my room going over some old case files, finishing up the last of my three pizzas, when I heard a knock at the door. Well, not just any knock, Jake's knock.

"Yeah, come in!" I shouted, still not looking up from what I was doing. I heard his footsteps cross the room and his weight on my bed.

"June, we really need to talk about this. Has it been fun playing superhero? Hell yeah! But I'm really worried for you. Sure you can heal fast, but you can heal fast if you're dead," he had my full attention now, even the pizza was forgotten.

"I get what you're saying, I really do Jake, but this is something I've wanted my whole life! To be able to help people!" I sighed.

"You do though June! As a CSI! If it wasn't for you criminals would be roaming the streets!"

"I love my job, I really do, but this, this feels like so much more! You know that rush when you save someone, when you come out of the operating room and you get to tell their families that they'll live!"

"I do, but I studied for years to become a surgeon! You got your powers, what, less than a week ago?! I know I said I was proud of you and I support you, but the more I think of it the more I worry. And I know that there's always that possibility that you'll run out and never come back! And...and I can't take that, not again!" Jake shouted and stood up. I could tell he was angry, no not angry, fuming.

"I don't understand why you can't just support me!" I retorted back, matching his stance as I shot up from the bed.

"I can't if I know it could kill you! I don't want you putting your life in danger! It's not worth it, not worth loosing you!"

"Well you can't tell me what to do anymore Jake! Not like when we were teenagers!" I yelled at him, and stormed out of my room, leaving him there. I slammed my door and the front door on the way out. I couldn't stand being there with him any longer, I just needed to get away.

So I ran, I ran a fast as I could and didn't stop.
