Clove, Katniss, Foxface and Rue

Rue 6 (Chapter 24)

I scream as the cannon fires. The boy is dead. I run and shake Finch so hard then she wakes.

“Clove is in a coma." Katniss says. “We have to wait until she wakes up." I stare. Katniss swings Clove over her shoulder and Finch slowly walks. We walk.

Katniss gets tired carrying Clove. Then she drops her into a lake. I jump in and swim and bring her to the surface.

“Let's rest." I say.

“Okay." Katniss says. “Let's climb that tree."

We find a fork and lay down in it.

“Katniss?" I ask.

“What Rue?"

“What will happen if Clove never wakes up?"

“She will probably get killed." Katniss says.

“Oh."

“Don't worry. Clove will wake up soon."

“How can you be certain?"

“I don't know Rue. I just feel she will be alright."

“So she will?"

“I do not know Rue. I think so."

“Did you want Clove for your ally?" I ask.

“Yes. But, I would not have gone and asked her."

“I wonder what made her hate Cato." I think out loud.

“It's her secret. She may never tell."

“Do you think she likes Cato?"

“Probably."

“Katniss? Are... Are... Are you scared?"

“Everyone is Rue. Except maybe the careers."

“Well, um Okayy."

“Good night Rue."

“Good night Katniss."
