8 | maybe a few rings?

' light shines in even the darkest places '

The words left her. The brown-haired beauty stared at her four mates with wide eyes, her lips frozen shut as shock washed over her body. When she was asked out, she didn't know she'd be getting proposed to. But the huntress soon snapped out of it, nodding her head.

"Y-yes. Yes!" She smiled, laughing as her tears continued to roll down. The four grinned widely and got up, Demetri going to their mate first.

"I love you." He mumbled, placing his lips onto hers, sparks travelling throughout their bodies. Love and joy were poured into the kiss, expressing their love for one another. Pulling back, Demetri slipped on his ring for Luna, the ring fitting perfectly around her finger.

The ring was made of gold and had diamond placed around the circle, small but visible. There were swirls carved into it and also held a big block of diamond. The ring was gorgeous and stylish, showing how much Demetri likes to show off by buying expensive stuff.

Next up was Felix. He came up to her, placing a kiss onto Luna's soft pink lips, both moving in sync. He too slipped his ring for her on, just above Demetri's. It was gold carved with swirls and held a diamond on top. It was vintage but cute, showing how much Felix loved the old style.

Jane then pushed her lips against the huntress's, her arms wrapping around the latter' waist, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. She then pulled back and slipped on her ring for Luna, on above Felix's ring.

The ring was gold and opened up halfway, swirls connecting the two sides. A big piece of diamond was in the middle and around it were gold leaves with a piece of diamond within, the representing a flower with leaves to show elegance.

And finally, it was Alec's turn. The fourth mate came up and gave Luna a soft kiss on her lips, arms wrapped around her as he held her while the kissed gently. He was the gentlest out of the four unless you pissed him off.

He pulled back and slipped on the ring he got for her. It was rose gold, shining in the moonlit sky. A diamond was atop the ring, held up by the gold that was attached to it. The ring was simple but beautiful.

They all looked at the crying yet joyful Luna. She stared at her mates with so much love, they knew she would never leave them.

"We love you, Luna." They whispered together, all four of them have smiles on their faces that stretched all the way to the moon. Luna let out a giggle, sniffling and wiping away her tears as she stared at them with a smile that mirrored theirs.

Every baby is born to seek love and that makes love the default setting, the basic operating system, of every human mind. That's why we're all good underneath no matter what cultural or religious operating systems are laid over the top. That's why there is no truer language than the language of love and no stronger power than the power of love.

"Love hurts" is the biggest lie out there. Love heals, love makes people whole again and love fills them with the goodness they need to be - as kind and loving as their Creator intended. What hurts is betrayal, thoughtlessness, uncaring attitudes and careless gossip. What hurts is people being unfriendly, not welcoming a new person to a neighbourhood or making "exclusive" cliques that are defined by who is "not welcome." What hurts is bullying, harassment, selfishness and greed.

Love, on the other hand, is the greatest gift mankind ever received, a gift that lives on within us all. Love is a gift that needs nurturing - it is the truth within us that knows life cannot be given a price tag. Love knows to be kind and never to hurt or kill. Love knows to treat your neighbour as yourself. Love is what we crave from birth, a craving that must be met by our new and loving earth-bound family. Love knows that a life is worth more than a pair of new shoes or designer makeup. Love is what can save us, make us fully human again and raise us up in the eyes of the Lord.

When your heart melts like butter on hot toast at the sight of someone. When you feel lightheaded and free. When you ache to be with them, to look at them, to touch them. That is love.
