I want to talk to you about what skin tone means.

To me,it means just few millimeters thick. Skin that protects our internal organs from foreign particles. But we Indians take it into a a whole new level. Skin colour to us reflects a person's mindset, darker it gets the more horrible we think about them.

No matter how I look, no offence but I always dream that my prince charming would be handsome, handsome and handsome. And what would that mean? White pale colored beauty or beast whatever. We women are always hard on ourselves. Grooming ourselves all the time at how to sit, walk, talk, bend (and see if you aren't giving any wrong signals) etc..etc...

And the biggest blunt of this, our skin color.

Yup, skin color matters a lot. Recent studies on human psychology have found a phenomenon called pigmentocracy , shadism or colorism.

Shadism is discrimination due to color.

The main reason we discriminate people for their skin color is what we associate colors with .

The primary shades Black and White .

White stands for purity, cleanliness etc. while Black is the complete opposite. It stands for the tainted, dirty and all wicked things.

Not every black stuff signifies bad things. Black hair is considered to be young and healthy while white hair is for oldie people. Dark forest, the name itself brings anyone drooling awake .

In christian marriages women wear white gowns as the color white, means holy.

While the groom wears a black tuxedo but that never meant anything evil.

They are just colors. It's us who associate it with different things.

A christian widow wears black as a sign of pain (old days ), while a Hindu widow wears white as a sign of mourning (again old days ).

But even after all this, we find multi-dollar companies like Fair and lovely, Fair and handsome , Garnier skin lightening , Lakme , Maybelline New York skin serum etc.

Whatever case you put it : skin lightning, fastening, thundering, all target only one thing skin complexion.

I know many people who have lost confidence among themselves because of these racist companies.

INDIANS on an average are not fair skinned people and that's okay!

The worst part white people are more likely to get certain jobs too.

When was the last time you saw a dark complexion air hostess?

We unintentionally commit racism.

We need to stop this. No offence but, Do you know what fairness creams consists of ? The answer is - Bleaching powder used in toilets. The companies are rubbing it on your face straightaway.

I am afraid even after knowing so much I couldn't change my sister to think that color doesn't matter. It pains me everyday when she tries putting on a face mask. I feel like crying when she loses her confidence because people think her fair skinned friends are better than her. I hate it when she is discriminated against it. I hate it that I couldn't make her realize how beautiful she looks even if she is a couple shades darker than me. She has a toned personality, tallest in her classroom. She looks like a model, an angel at that.

Note that stars like Rihaana are considered physically attractive even in west.

Thousands of girls today are trolled, frowned upon, discriminated against their skin color.

WE HAVE TO STOP THIS!!!

Again, by meaningful mind changing discussions...!
