Part 55: unexpected visit

Shawn:

Adriana and I were just in a deep kiss when it was brutally interrupted by a hard knock at the door.
It's stange to hear that sound, because the only two people who knows about this place either just walks in or knows the back way around.

But who showed up surprised me to the core.

"Dad?" I swallowed hard seeing him with both my mum and sister at the door.
"Since you never invite us over to your house, let alone we knew you were living on your own while you're still a minor, we invited ourselves over." He walked past me, bumping my shoulder as he did.

My mum greeted me with a kiss on the cheek, as for my sister... she looked at me with sad eyes at first and I saw the 'i missed you' screaming out of her soul.
I hate to say it, but I regretted leaving her even though leaving was best for me at the time.

"Hey Liyah." I said, already feeling the tears in my eyes. "It's so good to see you." She mumbled softly in to my chest after rushing in for a hug.
I closed the door behind them, rushing up to the living room to see them already all sitting down.

The house is a bit more furnished and clean after Adriana started working on redoing and revamping it to make a home.
We got some furniture from a man who had a garage sale and we washed the house out, gave it a little clean.
But where is she?

"Not bad, could use some work on the place." My dad said, looking around with a bit of a disgusted express on his face, and I rolled my eyes. "Yeah well I'm working on it. I'll be right back." I walked to my room, hoping to find her there but I heard her whispering from the bathroom.
"Shawn? Is that you?" I smiled as I walked over.

"Adriana? What are you doing in here?"
"I can't meet your parents. This is too much! How-what if they don't like me, like, what if this turns out like when you stayed over for dinner? What if I-"
"Babe! Listen to me, that will not happen." She smirked at me as I grabbed her face in my hands.

"I thought you wouldn't hear it." I said softly, feeling my cheeks burning as I looked at her. "So babe is a thing now huh?" She wrapped her arms around my neck before pressing her lips to mine. "I like it." She whispered in my ear.

"Shawn, mum sent me to get y- oh." Aaliyah walked in to the bathroom. "Don't you knock!" I laughed but her eyes grew wide as her smile did too, the moment she laid her eyes on Adriana.
"Wow. You're beautiful." Adriana walked over to her and gave her a hug. She's a good person. Better than what I deserve.

"You are just as beautiful. By now I might think Shawn was adopted because how can you have a brother that ugly when you're so beautiful." They laughed at the joke however, and I enjoyed the presence of their smile.
I knew the day that these two would've meet, they'll kick it off right from the beginning. Be the best of friends.
"Shawn, is this your girlfriend?"
"Not my girlfriend, or well, not yet. But yeah." I smiled over to Adriana, my cheeks still burning.

"You're finally moving on from Rachel!" She said her name whilst pulling a face, she's the only one that really knows what's going on. "Mum will love you." I took Adriana's hand in mine before we walked out to meet my parents. She was clenching on to my hand, holding on for life and death.
"Mum, dad. This is Adriana." I said and they stood up to greet her. "Hello, nice to meet you." She shook their hands before walking back to me.

"Are you Shawn's new one night stand?" My dad got off, laughing, but he was the only one laughing.

💞Adriana:

"I feel like tonight I might yell at your dad the way you yelled at Micheal." I said to Shawn after I saw the sad look in his eye.

It's not right, I know he did wrong but that's in the past.
Can't his dad see past it now to see the person he is now?

"No dad, she's the one. She changed me, I just wish you could see that." He walked away, back to his room.

This  isn't right.
I saw the taken back look on his fathers face when Shawn walked away. It's good that he feels guilty.
He should see the person Shawn is now, not still be staring into the face of his son that was in the way back past.

He changed.
And I hate to see how sad this makes him.
