SOPHIE DEVERAUX

I recently looked at the table of contents for this book, and realized it's been awhile since I last wrote about a character specifically from The Originals. So, I thought a good one to start again with would be Sophie Deveraux.

Sophie was one of the New Orleans witches. Growing up, she never had much of an interest in magic or the coven. At the age of 21, she left New Orleans for a while to travel the world. When she did come back, she began working at Rousseau's.

She began to care more about the coven when her niece Monique was chosen for the Harvest Ritual. Sophie was against it, and believed it was all a bunch of lies. That belief would ultimately lead to her death, when she was murdered by Monique towards the end of the first season of The Originals, because Monique thought she didn't have enough faith in the harvest and the coven.

When the show first opened, we saw Sophie mourning the death of her sister Jane-Anne, who was executed by Marcel Gerard for using magic in the French Quarter, which was banned while Marcel was in charge. Sophie was willing to go against Marcel and help the Mikaelsons take him down.

But she was a strong woman, and seemed to possess the qualities of a leader. She became an Elder of the New Orleans witches after consecrating Esther's remains, and I think if she stuck around for a while, she would have been a good leader for the New Orleans witches.

Are there any Sophie fics? Sadly, I've never seen about Sophie, so I'm not sure. I think it would be interesting, though, to read something about her.
