Like Thierry, Diego was another member of Marcel Gerard's inner circle, and like Thierry, he was very loyal to Marcel.
According to Diego, his family was attacked by werewolves, and they killed his parents and sister. The only Diego himself lived was because he was turned by Marcel. After that, Diego developed an intense hatred for the werewolves.
Diego was shown to have been very loyal to Marcel, and he was also close friends with Thierry, which led him to argue with Marcel about Thierry's sentence in The Garden.
Diego also distrusted the Mikaelsons, and agrees to help Marcel in a plan to overthrow them and run them out of New Orleans. However, that plan went very wrong, as Diego and the others were infected with werewolf venom by the Guerrera werewolves, and while Marcel was trying to get them the cure, Diego and the rest of the injured vampires were killed by the newly-resurrected Mikael, who only drank vampire blood.
