Tristan was one character I just didn't like, from the day he first showed up in New Orleans on 'The Originals'. Because sometimes, there are going to be characters you just won't like. But today, we're going to go a little into Tristan's story.
Tristan was born in France in the early medieval years, the son of a nobleman. Since he was nobility, he probably got a very good education, especially since he would have become the next Count de Martel when his father died. He probably would have been raised to believe that he was important, being the only son, which most likely would have given him a haughty, arrogant attitude.
Tristan never got the chance to become the next Count de Martel, since he became a vampire, the first of Elijah's sire line. He, along with his sister Aurora and Lucien Castle, were all compelled by Elijah to believe that they were Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson, and spent about a century on the run from Mikael.
It was after that that Tristan came along the nearly-destroyed Strix organization. It had been a group started by Elijah Mikaelson, whom he had thought had all been killed by Mikael. While Elijah's original idea was to put together a society of great minds and thinkers, Tristan turned them into something a little more along the lines of the supernatural mafia.
Despite that, Tristan managed to keep the Strix around for about nine hundred more years, and keep them thriving. That shows that he had the qualities of a good leader. Even when he was on 'The Originals' and working with Lucien to get rid of the Mikaelsons, it looked like Tristan was the one in charge of everything, and Lucien more of a lackey than a partner (although we know Lucien had grand plans of his own).
Tristan's time on 'The Originals' came to an end about halfway through season three, when Klaus and Elijah used the same device he was going to use on them to lock him in a freight car, and then had him thrown into the ocean.
Now, something I happened to realize that I don't know if others realized is this: in the season four of TO, Elijah did technically die for a couple of episodes. Rebekah and Kol knew he was dead because they saw multiple vampires from his sireline suddenly die. That means Tristan would have died, too. Due to the fact that he was already written off the show a while ago, his death was never acknowledged.
Are there any Tristan fics? I've seen a couple, and he's probably in any books that take place during TO's season three.
