Father Kieran O'Connell is remembered for being the uncle of Camille O'Connell and her twin brother Sean. He was the priest of the St. Anne's Catholic Church, and a leader of the human faction of New Orleans, and did both for many years.
As the leader of the human faction, Kieran did whatever good he could for the city and its people. He formed a good working relationship with Marcel Gerard, who was the leader of the vampires at the time, which became a sort of strained friendship. Despite that, Marcel always considered Kieran to be a good man and a friend.
During his time as leader of the human faction, Kieran collected many dark objects to be used by the humans in case there should ever be a supernatural war in New Orleans. These would later be left to his niece Camille after his death.
Kieran was a brave man. He apparently stood up to the witches who wanted to do the Harvest Ritual, which resulted in them hexing his nephew, and was continually standing up to Marcel and the vampires, and even stood up to Klaus himself. The way Kieran would speak his mind and wouldn't let anyone step all over him earned him Klaus' respect.
As payback for trying to stop the Harvest, Kieran was hexed by Bastianna Natale. Though Cami and Klaus tried, they couldn't remove the hex, and Klaus told Cami that there was nothing that could be done to save him. After going into cardiac arrest, Cami asked that Klaus give him his blood, but Kieran died with vampire blood in his system. He had chosen not to complete the transition, but his hex reappeared and he attacked his niece, drinking her blood. Klaus staked Kerian before he could he do any more harm, and told Cami her uncle had deserved better.
