"Oh come on now," Nami dragged you by arm to the big carousel that was standing in the middle of the festival. "You simply cannot leave before one round on it."

"I don't know," you hesitated, still resisting. "It looks sorta....unstable?" That was the understatement of the year. The paint on carousel was so chipped that it was almost nonexistant. The animals and vehicles standing on it had definitely seen better days. The lights that brimmed the upper part were slowly winking out of existance, half of them had already done so.

"Nami?" You looked around you when you didn't hear her argue with you. She was already at the ticket booth, and by the time you got to her she was waving to tickets in the air.

"Let's go, it'll be fun," she dragged you up the short stairs and onto the platform. She chose a horse to ride on and beckoned you to do the same.

You sighed lightly to yourself. Obviously there was no point in arguing now, when the ride was already starting. The platform started slowly moving, ancient wheels inside creaking so loudly you could hear them even over the loyd music that played and noises of the festival.

You quickly got onto a lion, that had about twenty years ago been painted yellow. Just as you relaxed a bit in your seat, you felt it give away a little, as if it was coming apart.

Fear twisted in your stomach, as the music played louder and louder and the carousel was spinning faster, as if it wanted to fly up from the ground and to the skies. You wanted to get off it pretty badly, but it was a minute too late already. Or a bit more than minute. But who's counting, right?

The moment you thought the lion would give ip completely, you stood up, planning to go along with the ride just by holding onto the metal post that came out from lion's back. It had obviously been a bad idea, because instantly the wind started pulling you off the ride to hell. Not the best moment of your life, I can guarantee that. Not the worst either, but that's probably a story for another time. That wasn't one of your best ideas that was playing out now.

Just as you thought you couldn't hold on anymore, you felt a pair of arms around you, making you stay in place and shielding you from the worst wind. A real superhero. Sadly you couldn't see if they were wearing a cape or anything.

"Just trust me," you heard a whisper in your ear. And you did.

In few minutes the ride started to slow down and then stopped completely. The stranger let go of you and you turned around to thank them. Oh boy. That's one cute guy, your brain whistled lowly. Thankfully it didn't highwire or anything, so you found yourself still able to talk. It would have been awkward if that happened. Thank god you are such a smooth and adorable flirt. That was sarcasm, by the way. Just in case you didn't notice.

"Thanks for-"

"Y/n are you mad?" You heard Nami's voice. "Are you alright? You could have been hurt really fucking badly?" she grabbed your shoulders and turned you towards her, checking you from head to toes. "Are you really alright? Shouldn't have dragged you there." Then she let go and noticed who you had been talking with. Uh boy. Did I mention that Nami is one insufferable matchmaker? And she's actually good at it.

"You know, I think I had such a shock because of you," she said quickly, retreating backwards. "I think I need to find one of the crew and make them get me something sweet. See ya later." she turned around and fucking ran for it. What a good friend you have there. That wasn't sarcasm. Oh wait. It was a little bit.

"Thank you," you mumbled under your breath, then turned back to your helper. "You know, I'm- I'm really sorry for her. I don't know what got into her, she doesn't usually behave like that," liar liar shorts on fire. Not literally of course. Because if you were actually on fire, you wouldn't be just standing there and chatting. You would be running around and saying something along the lines: "AAAAGGAGAGGGHAHAHHAGAHHHHAAGGGGGGAGGAGAIMONFIREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" or something.
