"What do you want to do?"
Noah finally asked me.
I was sitting on his bed.
My hands on my knees.
Flushing pink every second.
"I donno."
I remarked.
I haven't had an in deep conversation with him for years it seemed like.
It was years actually.
He stopped talking to me after Dad left.
Rumors spread around town about our family.
No one talked to the family whose dad was a drunk,
who left because of me.
Me.
I am the cause for destruction,
he heeds my warning.
Though Noah doesn't run like everyone else.
He stays.
The only reason he ran was because he was young,
he didn't know what to do.
He was at the time where is mother's opinion was valid.
Now he can make decisions which he can deeply regret later,
alone.
He can learn from them by himself,
without his parents telling him otherwise.
"Do you want to catch up?"
He asked quietly.
His head was down,
looking at the shay carpet.
His hands were in his pockets.
He was leaning against the wall,
by the door.
An easy exit.
"Sure."
I reply,
any conversation is a good one with him.
I will take anything at this point.
"Well...how have you been?"
I sigh.
"Good I guess,"
I reply and take in the atmosphere.
"Mum and Robert have been married for-"
"What about you?"
He interrupted me.
To ask what about me.
Am I okay?
"How has Jade Winters been?"
I felt like crying on the spot.
My face flushed a pale color,
perfectly white almost.
"F-f-f-fine."
"Are you really?"
I nodded.
All I was staring at was his floor.
Clenching my dress and pulling it down to my knees.
Covering my most vulnerable spots.
I looked in the corner of my eye,
make my movements slight and invisible.
I knew he was looking at what I was doing.
"You're still doing that?"
"What?"
I interrupted abruptly.
"After what your dad-"
"Stop please."
I felt tears streaming down my face.
I didn't force them to come,
they snuck up on me.
My face was emotionless.
"I'm sorry Jade."
"It was my fault he did it-"
"What?"
I turn my nimble head to see Noah;
watery eyes and regretful movement.
He was guilty.
He felt guilty.
Did he want to be with me?
Did he want to leave me?
It wasn't his fault.
"Jade I should've been there,"
I pulled my body straight.
He threw his hands to his sides.
"Mum made me stop talking to you,
all I wanted was to be with you.
I wanted to know why,
why he did this-"
Before I could say anything,
he pulled his entire body down next to me,
on his bed.
He grabbed my hands.
My tender cold hands.
His were soft and tall,
though his fingers were a bit short and nimble.
I gasped from the rough touch from my fingers,
through the entrances next to his soft short fingers.
I started to cry.
"Jade please,"
He pulled my hands up,
signaling my eyes to lock through onto his.
"Please. Look at me."
I listened to him.
His blue eyes,
no they were green.
No.
Aqua.
Aqua eyes.
Beautiful shade.
I couldn't help but twitch my mouth because of it.
I couldn't smile,
but it twitched.
That's a sign.
"I am never going to leave you like that again."
I started to tear a little more.
"Promise?"
He sighed and smiled.
He migrated his hands and fingers to my lower back,
and to my head.
He pulled me down slightly,
causing me to lie on top of his body,
as he was holding me.
His hands brushing in a repeated motion;
up and down my back.
"Jade,"
He stuttered.
I moved my head in response.
"Is that even a question?"
I laughed a little and continued to soak onto his polo shirt.
I eventually fell asleep on his chest.
The motion of him breathing was breathtaking.
Literally.
A lullaby on its own pace.
