a funeral isn't the time for a fight

I took a deep breath as I looked at the black dress laid out on the bed. I wasn't ready to go to Leonie's funeral. My heart was in a million pieces. I wiped my tears as I felt a pair of hands on my shoulder blades, trying rub away all my tenseness.

"Calm down, love."

Daniel whispered as he kissed the top of my head. He's just been amazing this whole entire time. He really is just an amazing guy. I wrapped my arms around him as the tears kept falling.

"Don't cry. Everything is okay. The girls are dressed and ready to go."

Daniel said as I nodded. I just didn't wanna let go. He was warm and cuddly.

"I'm gonna go get dressed."

I said as I picked my head up. I picked the dress up on the bed and walked to the bathroom. I quickly stripped out of my clothes and put on the black dress. I looked into the mirror as I sighed. My whole body felt numb. This couldn't be happening right now.

I walked out of the bathroom and found Daniel, dressed in head to toe in black clothing.

"I can't get this damn tie tied."

He said as he struggled in the mirror. I laughed a bit as I walked over to him and tied his tie. That was the first time in days that I had actually let out a laugh or smile.

"There."

I said with a smile.

"Thank you."

Daniel said as he bent down and kissed me. That was one of my favorite things about Daniel; his tallness.

"Let's go get the girls."

I said with a sigh. I walked downstairs to find Kaleigh, Tessa, and Miracle all strapped into their car seats and Skye waiting patiently. Sasha agreed to watch Juliet for Daniel so she wasn't left out.

"Let's go girls."

I said as I picked up Kaleigh and Tessa's car seat while Daniel got Miracle's car seat and picked Skye up.

30 Minutes Later

I walked into the funeral home already feeling uncomfortable for being there. But I wasn't going to deny my girls of saying their final goodbyes to their Grandma. We walked in and of course we were first greeted by Fergal.

"What the hell are you people doing here?!"

Fergal snapped at me.

"I just want my girls to say goodbye to their grandma, Fergal. You should want that too."

I said to him.

"These little brats aren't in the Devitt family, Pamela. You hear me? Especially that one."

Fergal said as he looked down at Miracle in my arms. It broke my heart to hear him talk about the girls like that. Especially Miracle. He was so happy when I told him was pregnant and now he's calling Miracle a brat.

"Just let my girls say goodbye to their Grandma please."

I said as my eyes started welling up with tears.

"Fine. Only Skye though. Kaleigh and Tessa are just little fucking brats that belong to Aaron and Miracle...I don't even know if Miracle is mine. Let's go Skye."

Fergal said as he roughly grabbed Skye's arm.

"Daddy you're hurting me!"

Skye yelled as Fergal dragged her away. It broke my heart to hear he yelling. A couple minutes later, Skye came running back over to me with tears in her eyes.

"I wanna go home!"

Skye sobbed as I picked her up.

"Shhh, what happened?"

I asked Fergal as he walked over to us.

"She was being a little brat so I spanked her."

Fergal said. I furrowed my brows at him as I felt my blood boil.

"Fergal, you know we don't discipline our kids like that."

I said to him.

"Well maybe they need that once in a while and your kids won't be little assholes."

Fergal said as he got in his face.

"Baby, Let's just go."

Daniel said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Fine. I don't wanna see you ever again Fergal."

I said as I turned and we walked out of the funeral home. How could Fergal lay a hand on poor little Skye? All I know is that I'm happy I have custody of her so she doesn't ever have to face that anymore. I don't even know who Fergal is anymore.
