your eyelids opened slowly as you felt the warm embrace of the sunlight shining against your skin. you hissed at the sudden contact of light against your eyes as if you were allergic to it. you got up to cover the nuisance with the curtains and drifted back into bed. you laid there blankly and stared at the wall with half-closed lids when you realized the faint smell of breakfast pleasing your nostrils. it was still 8 in the morning and you needed to get to school by 1 for your psychology lecture, which meant you still had time to sleep, but the fragrance drew you to push yourself out of bed and follow it.

you slowly walked to the kitchen as your eyes traveled around the counter, noticing the pile of plastic bags placed at the very end like they were recently brought from a grocery store nearby. your head then turned to where the stove was, seeing a very familiar figure with his back facing you. "good morning," you hear him say as you stopped on your tracks, "..good morning," you managed to utter back as he turned his head to look at you.

you followed the direction of his eyes, which were staring down at the clothes you were wearing. your fingers automatically met your lips as you felt your cheeks warm up, you realized you were wearing the jacket he offered to warm you up yesterday. "oh, uh sorry," you say as you start taking it off, before he stopped you from doing so.

"no it's okay, i don't mind," he softly spoke as you lowered your arms down, a smile slowly growing on your face. you approached him and leaned against the counter, watching him as he cracked an egg into the pan. your head tilted to the side as you noticed another purple mark on his right cheekbone, partnered with the faded one under his lips you saw yesterday, and a small cut right at the corner above his eyebrow.

"what happened to your face?" you couldn't help but ask, the curiosity eating you up. his face flashed out a surprising look, taken aback by your question as you waited for him to answer. the look on his face was similar to when he released the unwanted words last night, and you couldn't help but to wonder what could he be hiding under those soft gazes.

you see him gulp slightly with his fingers traveling up to his face. he looked at you and back to the pan nervously as he cleared his throat, "it's nothing, don't worry," he reasoned out, obviously trying to divert your attention away from his small injuries.

but upon seeing the look on his face as soon as you brought that topic up made you purse your lips together, nodding obediently at the known fact that you weren't in any position to ask about it, but you couldn't get over how it looked pretty bad that it still bummed you, especially knowing that they weren't at all treated yet.

he turned off the stove as you walk out of the kitchen, noticing him trailing behind you with a plate of food in his right hand and a glass of water on the other. you thought he was about to eat when he placed the food on the table in front of you, pulling out a chair waiting for you to sit. you gave off a confused look as he smiled at you, "come and eat," he says as you slowly walked and sat on the chair. you stared at the plate of freshly made bacon and eggs, along with two toasted pieces of bread at the side, which were the reasons for the fragrance that brought you out of the room.

he sat on the opposite side of you, hands joined together waiting for you to eat. "what about you?" you asked, upon seeing nothing in front of him unlike you. "i'm already done eating, besides, i know you haven't had dinner last night."

you couldn't help but agree with his words, you did skip dinner and you were starving. you didn't have any choice, though; you were saving up and you couldn't bring yourself to waste it on food, you knew the money you saved was far more important than your hunger. but then, you've never had a proper meal in so long. it's a surprise how someone you barely know is being so kind to you, even if you don't really deserve it.
