they knew they could never be 'normal', even from the start.

they could never take long walks on the beach, the sun on their backs as they eat ice cream. they could never buy a house together, settle down and have a family.

if they did it would just put them in danger.

it may seem selfish, but they had known the pain of separation on a larger scale than what could be imagined, and did not want to go through that again.

they would never be normal, but that was just how they liked it.
