Chapter 5-Snakes and Bubbles

Chapter 4

Tom's POV

Dude this Dominic is such a tool. I can see that there is chemistry between my bestest friend in the whole world Ria and his dumbass. She doesn't even see it. That's why I Tom the great will have to intervene. You should've seen the look on his face when I tightened my grip on his hand or even better when I looked him in the eye and smacked lil Ria's rump. I thought he would rip my lungs out. Although I have to admit when he slammed me up against that wall it turned me on just a little. What? I'm a dude I think about sex sometimes...okay a lot of times.

Anyways, back to my plan. He obviously hasn't figured out that I am into guys but most people don't know unless I tell them. They think I am the cliché all American boy; I play soccer and football at the university and I looked the part. Plan is to make mr. badass cop jealous to the point he takes her away from me hehe. He is such a tool bag he will so fall for it.

Ria's POV

After just a few minutes I have managed to set everything up and am just waiting on my movie buddy to arrive. The Halloween movie theme music is playing while waiting for me to push play on the dvd remote. Tom the goober just bursts in the door screaming, "Where is my darling Ria...Ria, Ria come out wherever you are. I don't want to have to spank that tushy again." I plow around the corner so happy to see him. I grab his hand and pull him to the living room just as Dominic walks in the living room.

Tom gives me this devious look and says to Dominic, "What not gonna ruff me up against the wall this time?"

"Nah man I knew it was just Victoria's little play thing so...," Dominic spouted back with a glint in his eye. Tom is speechless for a second...but that's a first Tom Speechless. Then Tom turns and winks at me and says, "Damn dude who wouldn't want to be Ria's little play thing...but Ria would disagree with me being little wouldn't you sweet cheeks?" I don't know what he is playing at but why not let Tom get under Mr. Grumpy's skin?

"Yeah, I would disagree. What did I call him oh yeah the anaconda. That thing has satisfied an untold amount of women," I say as I laugh untold more like nonexistent women lol. Dominic just mumbled something about that's what he thought. I ignored him and flopped on the couch and threw the blanket over Tom and me.

Nic's POV

This night sucks. She is all cuddled under a blanket with the douche, Tom, and I have to literally sit here and watch. My eyes about popped out of my head when he pulled her onto his lap and started rubbing lazy circles on her arm, like he didn't even realize he was doing it. As if to just get to me he whispered something in her ear and she smacked his arm and said, "oh Tom." I would like to oh Tom over his freaking head until he can't breathe. After the second movie I noticed she looked really sleepy and then she fell asleep on Tom's lap with her head nuzzled into the crook of his neck. He looks over at me as he rubs her back.

"She is really beautiful isn't she?" he asks me. I just narrow my eyes at him.

"Dude what are playing at? You have apparently already got into her pants. Do you really care about her or are you just messing around?" I interrogate him.

"Dude I am so not playing around. I care more about his girl than any other I have ever met. And as far as her pants goes I think your jealous you haven't gotten into them?" Tom says but it sounds like a question.

"Whatever man, just know that I am here to protect her, even if that's from you when its my shift," I tell him. But I am more wondering if its just me wanting to protect her from him. No, she is a little skank that does drugs I have no reason to feel protective of her.

"Really, so its just you doing your job then?" he asked.

"Obviously," I stated but I know it's a lie.

"Alright man well I am going to put sleeping beauty to bed," he tells me but I grab his arm as he passes by stopping him.

"I don't think that's a good idea. You can just give her to me and I will take her to her room," I tell him and surprisingly he doesn't fight me on it and just gently hands her over. But then he leans over and kisses her forehead lightly and that just goes right though me.

"See ya man," he tells me as he is leaving. I walk up the stairs with her small soft body in my arms. Somehow, this feels really good, like its suppose to be this way. As I lay her in her bed she mumbles something about princess. Wow, she just reminded me that she is a spoiled little brat. Thank goodness because I was starting to see her sleep and she looks really innocent when she sleeps.

The next morning I go into her room to wake her per her Aunt's request. When I opened her door I expected to see her asleep and still looking innocent. What I found was her bed empty, which is weird. I go to her adjoining bathroom to find the door open and the room empty. Shit, she's gone! If they managed to get a hold of her while I was asleep I will lose my job and never be able to work again! Just after I told her guardians what happened and was heading out to search for her she came waltzing in the front door. I ran to her grabbing her and shaking her, "What the hell is wrong with you? Do you know you could be dead from you little stunt this morning?!"

She just looked bored at me and said, "What's the matter Nic? Was you worried about little old me?"

"Hell no, I wasn't worried about your STD ass. I am worried about my career. You little spoiled rich bitch," I scream. Good thing her guardians left already. She gasps at my words. Yeah I guess I was a little harsh. She just ran as fast as she could past me and into her room. Well at least she is safe and so is my job. Her guardians came back when I called them and had a long talk with her.

Ria's POV

I have a splitting headache after the argument with my guardians about the whole disappearance fiasco. The only thing that I have found to ease my headaches when they come is a steaming, scalding hot bath. As I lay in the vast Jacuzzi of bubbles I think about how different my life has become in the last three years. I miss my parents so bad; it's as if they took a piece of me with them when they passed.

My head has finally eased somewhat and I decide the best thing for me to do is to sleep this day off. I reach for my towel and as I do it slips to the floor. All I can think is yeah that's how my day has been. Careful not to slip in my bubbled condition I step out of the tub only to scream with all I have in me.

There is a snake in my bathroom floor. Not able to move in my fear I am frozen to the spot I stand still screaming my head off. The door burst open and Nic stares at me. His eyes traveling to every bubble soaked part of my body. Not having to time to think about what he is thinking I scream again and point to the snake in the corner of the room all coiled up and ready to strike. Nic's gaze travels to where I point and he strides over to the snake and manages to grab it by the tail without getting bitten and stalks out the broken bath door without so much as a glance back in my direction.
