I turn on the television, something I haven’t done in years. All it does is make a hissing sound, and turn off again.

What am I supposed to do now?

Go out into the outside world that I’ve purposely avoided for 5 years? Seriously?

The old me would have come up with plenty of things to do. I’m not sure who I am now.

Who is Ian Hecox? Seriously, who is he?

Where has he gone?

I turn on the computer, and log into my old Twitter account. I hid the password in a box at the bottom of my cupboard, in case I needed it.

It’s different than I remember. A lot of advertisements pop up, which confuse me. After getting rid all of them, I check my follower count. I’ve lost about 200,000 over five years.

I check my mentions, to see that people have tagged me in posts, asking where I’ve gone. Some of the mentions included hate messages and death threats, but I ignore them. A lot of people also believe I’ve committed suicide.

I dig out my old video camera, and start filming.

“Hey guys,” I say, looking straight into the camera. “I just thought I’d make a video, since I haven’t made one in the long time. I’ve been battling a serious mental illness for about 5 years now.” I tell my story until I’ve blurted every last detail, except that I am in love with Anthony. “So yeah, I’m not dead, if that’s what my five years of absence has made you believe.”

I shut the camera off, and plug it into the computer. I make a new YouTube account, because my other accounts are long gone. I don’t bother editing the video either. I post it to YouTube, and wait.

Wait.

Wait.
