One Year Later..

I woke up from my nap with the sounds of heavy thumping on my front door. I sat up slowly and checked my phone, shit. Three missed calls. I looked at the caller ID and saw it was Jenny. Jenny was my best friend, and the sister I never had. We grew up together, knew each others secrets and could tell each other absolutely anything without the other ratting you out.

Since Andy and I had settled the divorced, she was there for me even more than she had been before and I was grateful, but a year later and she's still on my case about finding someone else to replace Andy and frankly, I wasn't ready to have my heart broken again.

THUD, THUD, THUD, THUD.

"PIPER EVANS YOU BITCH, GET TO THE DOOR! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!" She knew how much it pissed me off when she did that. I have lovely neighbours who are friendly towards me, well... HAD.

I bolted to the door, took it off the latch and swung it open to see Jen's cheeky smile.

"Good to see you aren't dead Pips. You didn't answer my calls so I automatically assumed the worst and got straight over here." She winked at me as she passed through the door.

"So what's so important that my neighbours have to be disturbed then?" I smirked at her as I shut the door with my hip.

She grabbed herself a glass from the kitchen and plopped herself on the sofa then proceeded to pour herself a glass of red wine.

"We, meaning you and me, are going shopping in about... ooh... Ten minutes. And then we are going out for the evening"  I tried to argue that I really didn't want to, but she caught me before I could speak.

"No more petty excuses Pips! We are going and you are going to have fun! You never know, you might even get a shag out of it" she pinched my arm playfully giving me another of her cheeky smiles.

"I can't believe you Jen, you're so crude. Why does everything always have to be about sex with you?" I giggled

"It's not always about sex. I just want what's best for you. And right now... It's sex" we both laughed into our glasses, leading to her choking on her wine. That was the moment we decided to drink up and go out for a girly shopping session.

After dragging me around various shops for hours, we'd finally found a sexy little outfit each for the evening, complete with shoes of course, and decided it was time to go back to my place and get ready. I had no idea where she was taking me, but I knew deep down it was going to be a great night. This was the first proper night out I'd had since the divorce and I was determined to make it fun for myself, and Jen too.

I know this one was shorter but between college and revision and life in general it's hard to get it all done. Another chapter will be here soon, with an introduction of a new character!!! :D
