"He's the most adorable thing I've ever seen in my life Jen!" I squealed as she passed me the new bundle of blankets that surrounded baby Harvey. I was met by his beautiful blue eyes staring up at me. Tom and I were stood next to Jen in the hospital bed, in the maternity ward. Four hours previous, I'd gotten the call from Frank saying Jen had gone into labour and Tom and me had driven as fast as we could to the hospital so we were there when the baby arrived. And I was so glad we had.
"I want you to be Godmother Pips" a very exhausted Jen spoke up from the bed in front of me. I was shocked to hear that was what she wanted, but naturally I accepted. I'd had plenty of experience with children by that time anyway.
Chris and Elsa's baby daughter India was born two weeks after the Avengers premiere. Tom and I had flown out to Australia to visit the newborn. Chris and Elsa had decided to have India in Australia, where the majority of Chris' family were. India was also a beautiful baby, much like her parents were, you couldn't get a happier family than the Hemsworths at that time. The moment we walked through the door, Chris handed India straight to me. I expected her to burst into tears the second her daddy let go but instead I was welcomed with big blue/green eyes and the hint of a smile. My heart melted at that moment and I never wanted to let her go, in fact I actually playfully tried to escape the house with her all bundled up in my arms. Tom found this hilarious at the same time as cooing over his new Goddaughter. Clearly the two of us had a knack at becoming Godparents. Tom was amazing with India, he was going to be a truly brilliant father one day, that's when I remembered that not only will he be a great father, he'd also be the father of my child or children. I watched as Tom cooed over the bundle of blankets, and I admit, I was actually feeling a little broody. I walked over and took India out of Tom's arms, replacing them with my own.
"It's auntie Piper's turn again Uncle Tommy" I said winking at him, I knew how much he hated being called Tommy, and so did Chris which is why he was so determined to make sure India called him that name from the moment she could speak.
"Why is it I'm marrying you again?" Tom joked, raising his eyebrows at me.
"Because there is no other person in the world who loves you as much as I do, plus who would you have to enjoy your pudding with" I winked at him, he knew full well what I meant. Enjoying pudding didn't necessarily mean eating it, well at first anyway. You get the idea.
"I'd be honoured to be Harvey's Godmother!" I squealed quietly, trying not to wake up Harvey as I rocked him gently in my arms. The little bundle of joy gurgled in his sleep, as if he signified his approval for his new Godmother. I passed him back to Jen, where he rightfully belonged, and stepped back to Tom's side where his hand lightly brushed my shoulders as he wrapped his arm around me. Frank came back into the room with a coffee and two teas, passing them out to the relevant people.
"There's my little man!" Frank announced, taking Harvey from his mother's arms and holding him against his chest, making sure to plant a soft kiss on the top of Jen's head before straightening himself up.
"He's definitely got his mother's good looks" Frank said as he looked down at his son's little face.
"Good answer" Jen croaked tiredly, before taking a sip of her water and pushing herself up straight in the hospital bed. Tom chuckled and glanced at me lovingly then held onto my hand tightly.
"I think we're going to make a move and leave you three in peace" I said, still looking into Tom's gaze. I broke it to move over to Jen and kiss her cheek, congratulating her and Frank once more on their beautiful new arrival.
~~~
I rummaged through my handbag trying to find the keys to the house. When I finally found them I unlocked the door and pushed it open softly as to not wake Harvey. Jen and Frank had gone away for the weekend and had asked Tom and I to babysit, obviously we happily agreed to. I'd been at work all day so left Tom with the day shift. I shut the door gently behind me, noticing the house was extremely quiet. I crept into the living room and saw one of the most heart warming sights I'd ever witnessed in my life. Tom was laying down on the sofa, his long legs dangling over the edge. Harvey laid on his chest, fast asleep, his body moving up and down with the rise and fall of Tom's chest as he breathed. Tom, also fast asleep, had a half read baby book covering his face, the sound of gentle snores escaping from underneath. I put my bags into the study and returned to exactly the same sight. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and snapped a picture of the two boys and decided to send it to Jen.
*Look what I just came home to :) It seems they've had quite an exhausting day!
Pips xxx*
My phone buzzed almost instantly.
*That's adorable, glad you took that picture! Do make sure Tom sees it, I know he likes reading, but how does he manage it with the book placed like that?!
Jen xxx*
I giggled at Jen's response and slipped the phone back into my pocket before scooping Harvey up into my arms and placing him in his travel cot in the spare bedroom, flicking the baby monitor on as I left the room. Next to deal with Mr. "Sleepy head" Hiddleston.
I stood above Tom and removed the book from his face, admiring his relaxed, sleeping face. A part of me wished I didn't have to wake him up, but I needed to. The last thing I needed was him waking up and seeing that Harvey had suddenly dissappeared, he'd go crazy! I leant down and brushed his forehead with my lips softly. No response. I frowned and crouched down so my face was next to his. A few seconds later I poked his cheek lightly and traced his cheek bones, all the way down to his chin. Still nothing? Jeez! That normally works. I suddenly thought of an idea, that only worked one othe time when I couldn't wake him up.
"Time to wake up Sleeping Beauty" I whispered into his ear, still tracing his cheek bones with the tip of my finger. I leant forward and planted my lips onto his, kissing him gently. Tom didn't open his eyes, however he did kiss back, his lips moved slightly, in time with mine. At first I wasn't sure whether he thought he was dreaming, but when he slowly opened his gorgeous blue eyes and saw me, he wrapped one arm around my neck and the other around my waist, pulling me on top of him and kissing me passionately.
"It seems my Prince Charming has come to rescue me from my sleep" He mumbled tiredly.
"Indeed she has!" I whispered, pressing my lips against his once more.
