jake: asking for permission

'So why did you kiss her again?' I ask for the 100th time.

'She wouldn't shut up!' Luke exclaims and I laugh.

'That's the only reason you kissed her?' I look at Izzy and Sophia talking on the other side of the hall. Sophia looks like she's going to cry.

Luke looks in the same direction. 'Yes... okay no. I like her. You know I like her! Why do you want me to admit that out loud! It's embarrassing'  he exclaims.

Everyone turns their heads in our direction, including Izzy and Sophia. Looks like this might turn out a little more embarrassing than he thought.

Sophia runs away and Izzy follows her, yelling her name.

'I really messed up this time, didn't I' he walks away with his head down.

I quickly send Izzy a text and go after Luke. 'Come on. Let's go somewhere private'

Izzy just let me know that they're somewhere in a class, but Luke doesn't have to know that. We have to fix whatever it is between our friends.

Before either Sophia or Luke can complain, I lock the door behind me. 'You two need to talk' I simply say before sitting next to Izzy. I interwhine our fingers and I'm happy she doesn't pull away. She even leans her head on my shoulder.

'Sophia, I'm so sor-' Luke starts, but before he can finish his sentence Sophia starts crying. 'No, I'm sorry. You only wanted to apologize' she cries harder.

Luke, the gentleman he is, puts his arms around her in a reflex. Note the sarcasm when I say gentleman. He normally is a player and a bad boy. He usually doesn't do these things.

He puts his chin on her head and she hugs him back.

'This was easier than we thought' I whisper in Izzy's ear. She only nods.

Luke pulls away from the hug to look at Sophia. He cups her cheek as he rubs away her tears. 'Can I kiss you again?' He asks quietly. Sophia nods before they lock lips again.

Even though this whole scene can be seen as cute, I look away. I'm not interested in the make out session this is going to turn into.

'Let's go' I say to Izzy before standing up. They don't even notice that we're leaving.

'That was so cute!' Izzy says after closing the door behind her.

I look down at our own hands. We're still holding each other. She looks down too and blushes before pulling her hand away.

'No, I like it like this' I say before grabbing her hand again.

Her cheeks turn red again. I notice how close we stand to each other. I can't hold myself anymore. If it works for Luke it could work for me right?

I cup her cheek and without thinking I ask for her permission the kiss her.

She only looks me in the eye. She doesn't respond. Sh*t, this was a bad idea! I start pulling back, but suddenly her lips are on mine and I hear fireworks explode
