there is an assemblage of hearts that are hidden under your pillow, love, they beat and thrum and gallop into the diaphanous dulcet efflorescence that is your mouth. their effervescent nature makes them appear in a labyrinthine motion that lulls you into the glamour that is your sleeping body. try as they might their mellifluous sound becomes an elixir turned syrup turned honey boiled arsenic. you, my love, are a ripple of a woebegone love story. hear the hearts with their susurrus gaiety - as they  l                                             l

into nothing. you are out of reach - seen in the offing in the penumbra of a day before sea turns gray turns dark turns black. you are sleeping on a bed of every heart I ever took. I made a promise to give them a place to rest. you are the only harbor where they can take their second first breath.

(and if you listen closely, though it may be a slight brush of wind, you can hear my heart resting beside yours.)

we weren't meant to be this lifetime - but there, beside you, is my heart embalmed in the fabrics that keep you warm. keep it until we meet again.

I will not let you go next time.
