i clung to the pillow and bit at my bottom lip all night. i couldn't sleep, and being in geoff's room all night didn't make matters any better. he was lucky to be able to snore peacefully, sleeping away the terrible night. i watched him dream most of the time, mainly just jealous and not understanding how he could sleep so soundly.
i tried to get up once to go to my own bed, but he had woken up so quickly and requested that i stay with him. stay i did, although i wasn't comfortable. i guess it made sense though, because i think he was scared i was going to try again while he was sleeping.
i snuggled closer to him to try to be warm and to try to fall asleep. i had no such luck, so i turned away and let him pull me closer by my waist in his sleep. he mumbled gibberish too. i thought i had caught my name a few times, which made a honey glow heat up my face pleasantly.
i checked his side table alarm clock every now and then. to my disappointment, i never got a wink of sleep until eight in the morning. that was the time i started to feel sleepy, but it was the same time that geoff started to stir.
i sighed and got out of bed. this time, he didn't try to get me back. instead, he woke up with squinty, orange-blue paisley eyes. "awsie, what're you doing?" he asked in that raspy morning voice i came to love.
"i-it's eight." i said softly. he moved to look at his alarm clock and sighed, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. i yawned, so i turned around and covered my mouth to try not to let geoff see. this was in vain because i could hear him sigh.
"did you sleep well?" he asked, but i knew he already knew the answer. i shook my head and went over to sit next to him. i leant on him and closed my eyes, just breathing in his azure-mahogany scent. he played with my hair for a little while.
i was going to fall asleep if we stayed there for too long. i got up from the bed and walked to his door. "le-let's g-go..." i hurried to my room, ignoring geoff calling my name. i closed my door and locked the three locks before sinking down to my knees and leaning my head against the door. i let my hands fall limp to my sides as i cried, suddenly overwhelmed by nothing.
i hadn't been there for a moment before there was a soft, pink-grey knock on my door. "you okay?" i heard geoff ask. concern was laced in his tone.
i sniffed and nodded. remembering that he couldn't see me, i said, "uh-y-yeah."
"garnet, you don't sound so sure." his voice was suddenly closer, as if he were kneeling on the other side of my door.
i sniffed again and stood up. "'m sure." i said. i went over to my closet to get an oversized, green jumper that read 'supreme.' i got some black skinny jeans to change into, and forewent a pair of shoes. i slapped on a random white hat and unlocked my door locks.
to my green-blue paisley, geoff was sitting against the wall next to my door, all dressed and ready to go. when i came out, he scrambled to his feet and instantly wrapped his arms around me.
"we don't have to go," he said into my ear. "we can stay home and have a day in to cuddle or something."
tempting, but we couldn't. "w-wanna..." i whispered. i pushed away from him gently. "c-c-c'mon..."
