I woke up to an acorn plushie softly hitting my stomach. "About time you woke up, Puddle." Connor said from the foot of my bed. I giggled softly and brushed the water away from my eyes. "What are you d-doing here?" I asked. "I just wanted to see you." His warm eyes stared deep into mine and I saw nothing else. A vine fell onto his face. I reached out to brush it away and let my hand linger on his cheek. I pulled him towards me and kissed him gently. I got an immediate response as Connor lightly placed his hands on my waist.

As I pulled away, I pressed our foreheads together. "So..." I began. "W-what are we?" I kept my eyes on my lap. Connor took my hands into his own and squeezed them softly. "We are whatever you want us to be." I heard the smile in his voice. I looked up and kissed him softly. "I want to b-be your boyfriend. I-is that o-okay?" Connor smiled brightly. "Of course, Puddle." I couldn't help but giggle at the nickname. "Why puddle?" Connor chuckled. "It's a soft word. Like cuddle, or bubble, or worm." He said as he played with my hair. "And like you." He added as he kissed me again.

We stayed like that all day, just cuddling on my bed and watching movies. We were nearing the end of Newsies when Connor started to fall asleep. It was around 9:3pm when he did. I couldn't help but smile at how adorable he looked. But something told me to get up. Something told me to climb out of my window and onto my roof. I didn't know what, but it was strong enough for me to follow it. I made it to the roof only to find a keyboard. Next to it was a boy wearing two pride flags as blankets and his hair all tucked into the hood of his sweater. I couldn't see his face. I sat next to the boy and placed a hand on his hood. I immediately pulled back when I felt warmth emitting from his head. Jared? I turned his head so I could see his face and as I suspected, it was Jared Kleinman.

I gently began to shake him awake. Jared's eyes fluttered open and met mine. It took him a minute to process what was going on, but soon enough he bolted up and balled up the flags, stuffing them into his pockets. "Jared..." I began. He looked at his lap and closed his eyes. "I should've knocked or something, I'm sorry. I just didn't know what to say or where to go so I just stood outside your door for a half out trying to work up the courage to knock on your door but I just couldn't do it so I climbed up to your roof and-"

"Jared i-it's okay." I said, cutting him off. Jared pulled his hood tighter and hugged me. I held him close, rubbing circles on his back. "Jared w-why aren't you at home?" I asked after a little while. I felt him tense up. "My... my parents, they kicked me out. They found out I'm... not straight." I didn't want to push, so I refrained from asking how. "You wan't t-to stay with me f-for awhile?" I asked cautiously.

"You'd do that?" Jared asked with wide eyes. "Of course. Y-you're my best f-friend!" Best friend... He's my best friend. "Thank you, Evan Hansen. I don't deserve your kindness." I stood up, bringing him with me. "How b-bout we go inside?" I suggested. He nodded his head, picking up his keyboard.

We climbed inside my window and landed in my room. Connor was still asleep, his vines sprawled out onto the pillow he rested on. I saw Jared tense up a bit. "Connor Murphy?" I laughed nervously. "The one and only."

"Is he... Did you..." His face reddened. "Oh! Oh no that didn't happen!" I assured him, my face burning. He visibly relaxed. "Okay... good." He rubbed the back of his neck and pulled off his hood, revealing his fiery head of hair. Jared set down his keyboard and moved close to the wall. I didn't really know what to do, so I just sat next to him and smiled lightly. He returned the smile, and began intertwining his fingers nervously. I decided to put my arm around him. He tensed, but soon cozied up into my half embrace, resting his head on my chest.

A little over two hours passed until he fell asleep. I checked the time. 12:23 am. I slowly got up and walked around my room, not being able to sleep. I decided to sit on my roof for awhile. "Can't sleep?" I turned to see Connor next to me, sitting criss-cross with his vines pulled into a ponytail. "No, not really." Connor pulled my hood over my head and his over his. He moved his hand to my cheek and pulled my face close to his. God, his eyes. Not being able to help myself, I press my lips softly to his. Connor kissed back, quickly deepening the kiss. He pulled me onto his lap and continued to kiss me. I resisted every urge to run my fingers trough his vines and my hair slowly turned into icy snow, hard enough for fingers to comb through it.

I soon pulled away and stared back into his mesmerizing eyes. "You need to get some sleep, Evan." Connor mused. "I guess." I kissed him one last time and went back into my room. I rested my arms on my windowsill and watched him climb onto the tree in front of me. "Goodnight, Evan Hansen." He said, caressing my cheek. "Goodnight, Connor Murphy." He then jumped down and went home. I spun around and faced my room. A new tiredness I hadn't been feeling for the past few hours came over me. I flopped onto my bed and fell asleep.
