TWO BROKEN HEARTS

We're so close
Yet so far
Souls touch
But hearts stay million miles apart.

Walls between us
Of bricks and hate
Space devoid of oxygen
Yet we stay.

Crying away the pain
Healing scars everyday
That open up afresh
Knives hanging off our flesh.

Dull the earth seems
Shades of grey
Of black and without a green
And now we don't even dream.

All colours are faded
Scratched
Broken
We're blinded.

Pictures blur out
Windows become our house
Darkness prevails
We know that we fail.

Bones lack hope
Shine and light
Nothing so bright
We're lost in our mind
A labyrinth so unrecognised
No mud, no sand
There's only cement on the land
Lacking signs of life
Everything will die.

We're making ourselves up
We're breaking ourselves down
We take one step forward to break the walls
We retreat back to our town.
We're not like we were before
We're grown up, we're mature,
We tell this to our heart
Mistakes were made in the past
But we never have a new start.

The candle burns with a small wick
My heart yearns
Yet we're sick
Of each other
We stay at bay
But we still pray.
We dread the graveyard
We dread our hearts
We know we regret
But we're still apart.
Miles apart,
There live two broken hearts.
