AT TWO IN THE MORNING

You were there in my dreams tonight,
Just when I thought that I had moved on,
You crept up on my mind.
I saw you there in your favourite blue shirt,
You were smiling and you made me too.
You came closer to me.
It looked like you wanted to say something.
But you didn't.
Then your fingers brushed past my cheek,
And instinctively I leaned in,
Because I had been craving your touch for so long.
But before I could hold you properly in my arms,
And weave my fingers in your hair,
And kiss your forehead and say that I missed you dear,
You vanished in the thin air.
Leaving me with nothing yet again.

I woke up with a start;
My heartbeat had escalated,
My fingers were clammy with sweat,
But then I heard something
Which made me calm down again,
It was your voice saying, baby I am home tonight.
I rushed downstairs towards the door,
With hope in my eyes to see you appear,
But what I was met with was darkness,
Because you didn't come back home to me.
I rushed back to your study
And took out the box loaded with your photos,
And as I was close to have tears because you were so far from me,
I heard your voice again saying, baby please find me.

I rushed into my car at two in the morning,
I drove fast because I was yearning.
My car came to a halt
And I rushed into the familiar cemetery
Because I felt like I will find you this time,
Maybe sitting on some rock saying, hey it's been a while.

But when I rushed to your stone,
I felt that you still lay six feet beneath,
And I broke down on my knees
To reduce whatever distance was between you and me.
And though you were far away from me,
I could hear you smirk from beneath,
Saying, that baby you are here, third time this week.

And I could do nothing
But lay my hands above your grave,
And say, that I am coming soon to you, my babe.
