wither //ˈwɪðə//verb
(in plants) become dry and shrivelled; fall into decay or decline.

Look above you,
do you see a dark sky, a night sky?
Void of any colour,
yet a mixture of every colour...
Look closely,
did you see that falling star?
A meteorite.
Beautiful.. you'd think.
You'd close your eyes and make a wish,
But to me,
it isn't beautiful.

It is a broken star.
It is someone who was disowned by his world.
Someone who lost his fight.
From the earth,
it looks like its path is glittered,
beautified,
But that isn't glitter, my love,
That is actually a fire,
That has engulfed the poor soul wholly,
Consuming all its energy,
Making its particles dissolve in the air,
The fire is killing it.

The star has lost its world,
The vast, endless, infinite, beautiful, sky,
that was once its home,
is now reduced to a dry patch of land on earth,
On which it has crashed upon,
Along with all the wishes that it collected mid-way,
The burden was too much for the already burdened and homeless soul,
He couldn't live through.
Those wishes, won't ever come true,
Will just ignite false hope within you.

The star, that once shone brightly on a dark sky,
Its home did not lose it,
Instead, it lost its home,
Just like its world
Which is withering away
Like petals fall from a flower, once in bloom,
The only difference becomes their velocities,
And that has made all the difference.

[A/N: yo! Unimpressed? Same here :/

The last line, velocities have made all the difference, let me explain what it actually means.

A flower, in full bloom is a beautiful sight to see, but once the petals wither, it isn't beautiful anymore. The process of the falling of the petals is slow.

On the other hand, a night sky full of stars, loses one of its stars and it is a very beautiful sight because the meteorite falls on earth with a high velocity.

So speed has made all the difference, otherwise both the processes bring anything but happiness.

Just like seeing a wilting flower can make us sad, so can a meteorite; it brings damage with itself.       Just.Think.

Wow, this author's note was a poem in itself 🙄.
